DODGE <br />City Clerk of the City of Redwood City <br />Application was received from the Keenan Motor Car Co. requesting permit to oper- <br />ate used car lot at 1661 Broadway. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Britschgi, that the permit be granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Application was received from the Cuddy Motor Company for permission to erect a <br />sign 4' x 161, made of metal and wood, on their used car lot. The City <br />Attorney advised that the ordinance probides that a sketch drawn to scale be <br />F' <br />presented to the Council. Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger, that the permit be granted subject to the supervision of the <br />Building Inspector. Motion passed unanimously. <br />In regard to improvements of the intersection at Valota and Vera Avenues, City <br />I <br />Manager Blom stated that he had sent a letter to each member of the Council <br />in regard to this matter and stated that something should be done now to re- <br />construct this intersection if Vera Avenue is to be paved westerly from thip <br />intersection. If Vera Avenue is paved and the intersection not reconstruc- <br />ted it will result in a bad traffic problem due to the poor aligment and <br />grade line. The estimated cost of the work including the right of way and <br />damage to existing property was given at approximately $10,000 to $112000. <br />City Manager Blom stated that Valota Roas was going to become a heavily <br />traveled road in the future and believed this correction should be made now. <br />Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the City <br />Manager be instructed to start the necessary steps to make the improvements <br />at Vera Avenue and Valota Road. Under question there was some discussion <br />as to where the funds were to be taken to finance the project. It was City <br />Manager B1om!s opinion that the cost might be chargeable to the bond issue. <br />Councilman Werder withdrew his motion upon advice from the City Attorney <br />that a resolution was necessary and offered resolution and moved its adop- <br />tion authorizing the filing of a condemnation suit to acquire property for <br />the purpose of improvements to the corner of Vera Avenue and Valota Road. <br />The motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and on roll call resolution <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />RESOLUTION No. 329 <br />AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION OF ADDITIONAL LANDS IN FEE FOR MUNICIPAL <br />COMMUNITY CENTER AND RECREATIONAL PARK. <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that it finds and <br />determines and hereby declares: That public interest and necessity require <br />the acquistion of the real property hereinafter described as a part of a <br />municipal center and recreational park; <br />That all of the declarations and determinations of this City Council <br />and its resolution with respect to the acquisition of lands as set forth in <br />its Resolution No. 210 authorizing condemnation of lands in fee for municipal <br />
