64
FURTHER RESOLVED that the minutes' of said meeting of January •15,
1945 be corrected to read as follows;
"A motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman McNulty
that the affidavit of publication of the ordinance described in
the next succeeding paragraph relating to an investigation pro-
ceeding preliminary to the adoption of a resolution of intention
for the construction of any public improvement, etc., be filed,
was unanimously adopted.
"Thereupon Councilman Fletcher moved the adoption of the ordi-
nance entitled ?Providing and Investigation Proceeding Prelim-
inary to the Adoption of any Resolution of Intention for the
Construction of any Public Improvement or the Acquisition of any
Property for Public Use or both where the Cost thereof is to be
Paid in Whole or in Part by Special Assessment upon Property and
Prescribing the Time and Manner of Notice of Public Hearing
Thereon before the Adoption of such Resolution of Intention?,
which motion was seconded by Councilman McNulty. Onrroll call
said ordinance was passed and adopted by the unanimous vote of
all councilmen present, Councilmen Armstrong and Britschgi.being
absent. Said ordinance is numbered 515."
FURTHER RESOLVED that the clerk be and he is hereby directed to
correct the minutes of each of said meetings in accordance with this
resolution. '
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of July, 1945, by the
following vote:
City Attorney McCarthy advised that he had written Richard Carpenter,
General Consul of the League of California Cities, advising; him the
the council had with reluctance cancelled taxes on a lot at the re-
quest of the Veterans$ Welfare Board upon his advice that they had no
other alternative. He asked Mr. Carpenter if, in his opinion, the
Council could have required payment of these taxes. Mr. Carpenter
replied to his letter and concurred in the opinion that Mr. McCarthy
had rendered the council and said that he believed if the matter were
to be brought up in court Mr. McCarthy's opinion would be upheld.
City Attorney McCarthy advised that the County Tax Co17e ctor had given
notice of sale of property deeded to the State for delinquent taxes
of approximately 55 parcels of land, the sale to be held July 25th.
There are six lots'withln the City of Redwood City included in the
sale. He stated that the Council had authorized him to request the
Board of Supervisors to cancel taxes on lots in Redwood City and re=
commended that the council -request the postponing of the sale of the
lots within the city. He believed the matter might be acted upon by
the Board of Supervisors so that the taxes will b e cancelled and
the city could sell the lots and redeem the whole proceeds. Council-
man Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the Tax Col-
lectorlbe requested to postpone the sale of six city lots published
in the Tax Collector's notice of sale of public property set for July
25th. The motion passed unanimously.
