70 <br />the resolution authorizing condemnation proceedings on Lot 8, Block 1, <br />Redwood Oaks, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, <br />Councilman Granger,asked to have included in the resolution that the <br />Clerk be instructed to see that the money is transferred from the, title <br />company to the city treasurer. On roll call the resolution was unani- <br />mously adopted. <br />Communication was received from Claire E. Siliman requesting information re- <br />garding license or permit for food locker and cold storage plant, <br />electrically equipped with approximately 1000 units. The plant will <br />be located at 700 Cassia Street. rCouncilman Anderson said he could <br />see no objection to the plant and moved that the permit be granted. <br />Councilman Armstrong believed the Health Department should approve the <br />premises. Councilman Anderson amended his motion to include approval <br />of the Health Department. The motion was seconded by Councilman Fletcher, <br />and passed unanimously. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised that he believed the license appli- <br />cable to this business would be that.license applicable to general gro- <br />cery merchants. The license would be figured on a quarterly basis of <br />month receipts. <br />Communication was received from Oleson and Hastings r.eggrding paving of right <br />of way, advising that it was their understanding that there is an agree- <br />ment between the City of Redwood City and the Southern Pacific Company <br />that the railroad company would arrange to pave the right of way on <br />Chestnut, Street in order to make the property fronting the right of way <br />accessible. They asked that the Council petition bhe Southern Pacific <br />to do this work. City Manager Mead advised that the property owner is <br />required to pay for a portion of the work. The agreement was read and <br />Councilman Armstrong moved that the petitioner be addressed a letter <br />informing him of his obligations and of the obligations of the railroad <br />company under this contract. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Fletcher. Councilman Granger asked that the railroad company be sent a <br />copy of the petitioners letter advising them that this request has been <br />made. Councilman Armstrong accepted the amendment to his motion. The <br />motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Redwood City Elementary School District <br />signifying the school district's intention to sell the site of the <br />Central 'School located at Middlefield Road and Broadway and requesting <br />that the city offer the site of the old library building at the corner <br />of Jefferson Avenue and Broadway at the same time.
