Anderson, C. C. Armstrong, E. A. Fletcher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, Mayor VC. W. Hilton, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Police Cnief C. L. Collins, Fire Chief M. E. 1 Ryan, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes and Charles Randlett. Absent Councilman Carl Britschgi. Minutes of previous meeting were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. Application for dance permit was received from Yvonne Schlichtmann for V.Ted- nesday nights, September 19th and 26th, until 12 P.M. fee having been paid. Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty that permit be granted, subject to usual conditions. Motion passed, Councilman Armstrong voting in the negative. z. Application for dance permit was received from Court Ha.drone ,#158, F. of A. for two Saturday nights, September 22nd and 29th, until 12 P.M. Benefit dance. Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson that permit be granted, subject to usual conditions. On the question, Councilman Armstrong requested City Attorney McCarthy to define "Benefit dance", and Councilman Granger asked the City Attorney to explain "usual conditions", in his report at next meeting. Motion passed. Councilman Britschgi entered meeting at 8:15 P.M. -- Communication was read from Mr. Andrea Spinas, Superintendent of Schools, re- garding removal of Animal Shelter from present locrtion adjoining site of contemplated elementary senool. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by Councilman Granger that a committee be appointed to look into this matter, and report at next meeting, the City Clerk being instructed to write Mr. Spinas to this effect. Motion passed. Communication was received from Port Manager A. A. Moran, regarding sign on Bayshore Highway. There being no objection, Mayor Hilton ordered letter filed. Communication was received from Mrs. P.N. Spence, Chief Clerk of War Price and Rationing Board, thanking the Council and City Departments for their cooperation. There being no objection, letter was ordered filed. j Communication was received from the Mission Trails Association, Ltd.,requesting contribution towards that organizations publicity campcign. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson that letter be acknow- ledged and the Secretary advised that there is no provision in the 111 budget for such expenditure. Motion passed. Report of Ambulance Committee was carried on agenda until next meeting on re- quest of Councilman Fletcher, because of absence of Mr. Ratliff from the city. Mr. Shaff, prospective purchaser of Redwood Diner, requested information re- garding his chances of securing, permit to operate the Diner in the event v
