M. � <br />�I <br />On roll call, the following were present: Councilman Harold F. Anderson, <br />C. C. Armstrong, E. A. Fletcher, Floyd D. Granger, George W. McNulty, <br />Mayor VC. W. Hilton, and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City <br />Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Police Cnief C. L. Collins, Fire Chief M. E. 1 <br />Ryan, City Collector Nelle L. Miramontes and Charles Randlett. Absent <br />Councilman Carl Britschgi. <br />Minutes of previous meeting were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman <br />Fletcher, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. <br />Application for dance permit was received from Yvonne Schlichtmann for V.Ted- <br />nesday nights, September 19th and 26th, until 12 P.M. fee having been paid. <br />Councilman Anderson moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty that permit be <br />granted, subject to usual conditions. Motion passed, Councilman Armstrong <br />voting in the negative. z. <br />Application for dance permit was received from Court Ha.drone ,#158, F. of A. for <br />two Saturday nights, September 22nd and 29th, until 12 P.M. Benefit dance. <br />Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson that permit be <br />granted, subject to usual conditions. On the question, Councilman <br />Armstrong requested City Attorney McCarthy to define "Benefit dance", <br />and Councilman Granger asked the City Attorney to explain "usual conditions", <br />in his report at next meeting. Motion passed. <br />Councilman Britschgi entered meeting at 8:15 P.M. -- <br />Communication was read from Mr. Andrea Spinas, Superintendent of Schools, re- <br />garding removal of Animal Shelter from present locrtion adjoining site of <br />contemplated elementary senool. Councilman Fletcher moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger that a committee be appointed to look into this matter, <br />and report at next meeting, the City Clerk being instructed to write Mr. <br />Spinas to this effect. Motion passed. <br />Communication was received from Port Manager A. A. Moran, regarding sign on <br />Bayshore Highway. There being no objection, Mayor Hilton ordered letter <br />filed. <br />Communication was received from Mrs. P.N. Spence, Chief Clerk of War Price <br />and Rationing Board, thanking the Council and City Departments for their <br />cooperation. There being no objection, letter was ordered filed. j <br />Communication was received from the Mission Trails Association, Ltd.,requesting <br />contribution towards that organizations publicity campcign. Councilman <br />Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Anderson that letter be acknow- <br />ledged and the Secretary advised that there is no provision in the 111 <br />budget for such expenditure. Motion passed. <br />Report of Ambulance Committee was carried on agenda until next meeting on re- <br />quest of Councilman Fletcher, because of absence of Mr. Ratliff from the <br />city. <br />Mr. Shaff, prospective purchaser of Redwood Diner, requested information re- <br />garding his chances of securing, permit to operate the Diner in the event v <br />
