ri
to the main thoroughfare- of the area with the understanding that the.city might "
be able to refund the cost of the main as connections were made. Mr. Welbanks is
now ready to build about 36 houses in the area. The street work is done and the
water main installed. It was the opinion of the City Manager that the city can Y;.
a
furnish enough water with the present main to thds area. Mr. Welbanks suggested that'
in order that he make a satisfactory showing with the Real Estate Board that there
will be ample water supply that an agreement be entered into whereby he would deed
to the city the title of the six inch main installed in the tract, which is estimated
at about_416,000, and give up any possible refunds and the city assume the cost of ex-
tending the main to the tract. This would be a fair arrangement from the city's'stand-
point in the opinion of the City Manager. The cost of extending the main would be
approximately 812,000. A resolution had been prepared authorizing the City Manager
to enter into such an agreement with Mr. Welbanks and it was the recommendation of
the City Manager that it be adopted. Councilman Werder asked if the city had the
money to extend the main. City Manager Blom replied that it did not and that the
agreement provides that the installation of the main depends on the financing of the
mains in that area. City Attorney McCarthy read the agreement and resolution.
Councilman McNulty offered resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an
agreement with Nelson Welbanks for the extension of water mains to his subdivision
and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. On roll call, resolution
was unanimously adopted with Councilman Armstrong absent.
RESO'LUTION No. 434
AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH NELSON ifELBANKS FOR WATER SERVICE TO EMERALD LAKE
HEIGHTS TRACT No. 563.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of,Redwood City that a contract
between this City and NELSON WELBANKS for an extension of a water main from the
vicinity of Monte Vista Way and Lake view Way to connect with the water distribution
system of said Nelson Welbanks in Emerald Lake Heights Tract No. 563, and to provide
for a conveyance form said NELSON WELBANKS to this City of the water distribution
system within said Emerald Lake Heights, be and the same are hereby authorized;
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to enter
into such contract in accordance with the form thereof exhibited to the City Council
this 3rd day of February 1947, by the following vote:
AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:
Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, McKULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
NOES; Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Coupcilmen: ARMSTRONG
W.
