There was considerable dis- cussion on the part of the Council, it being the general consensus that if the house were built on the new lot before the courts were built the plan would be favorably considered, however, there was no guarantee that the house would be built. A communication from Attorney James T. O'Keefe, Jr. was read which requested that inasmuch as he had not had an opportunity to stud the new plan or con- PP Y Y tact the residents in this area whom he is representing, the matter be Contin- ued and no definite action be taken at this time. Councilman Armstrong believed the matter should be referred back to the Plan- ning Commission and inasmuch as they meet on Tuesday, October 8, he moved that the revised map be referred to the Planning Commission for consideration at the October 8th meeting, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, Attorney Millington stated that the matter had been before the Planning Com- mission and that.the proposed plan would eliminate the objections of the j protestants. He asked that definite action be taken at this meeting so that Mr..Holder could begin construction in the subdivision. It was the decision of•the Council that if the Planning Commission came to a definite decision in the matter at their meeting the Council would meet in a special meeting Wednesday night. The motion passed unanimously. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Mana- ger be instructed to notify Mr• O'Keefe of the action of the Council so that he•and other interested persons could be present at the meeting of the Plan- ning Commission. Motion passed unanimously. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the affidavit of publication of ordinance establishing a Traffic Safety Commission be filed. Motion passed unanimously. 'Councilman Britschgi offered adoption of ordinance establishing Traffic Safety Com- mission, seconded by Councilman McNulty. On roll call, ordinance was unani- mously adopted with Councilman Werder absent. Councilman.McNulty offered introduction of ordinance changing name of Chilton Street to Winslow Street, seconded by Councilman Armstrong. Motion passed unanimously. City Manager Blom reported that he had contacted the State Highway Department and they have agreed to make a survey of the Bayshore Highway and Chestnut Street crossing with a view to installing the same kind of lights as are installed Ilb1 between here and San Francisco. As soon as the survey is complete, the Department will send a representative to discuss the matter of paying for the lights and other detail. At this meeting, it is planned to also discuss the proposed flood lighting of intersections on E1 Camino Real and also new traf- fic lights at these intersections. In regard to the discussion on the proposed amendment to the procedure code ordi- nance, Councilman Armstrong was of the opinion that it should be dropped from the agenda.
