1 R E S O L U T I O N <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that whereas MERVYN <br />MCARTHUR has been called to his eternal reward and his earthly labors have come <br />to an untimely end, and ` <br />135 <br />WHEREAS said Council record's here its feeling of sincere regret at the passing <br />of this faithful and loyal employee of the City for many years, <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this meeting of the Council of the City of Red- <br />wood City adjourn in the memory of MERVYN MCARTHUR and that a copy of this resolu- <br />tion be spread upon the official munutes of this meeting. <br />Passed and adopted by the following unanimous vote of the Council: <br />Councilmen: ARMSTRONG, BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor <br />HILTON. <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S. M. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen: C. C. Armstrong, Floyd D. Granger, <br />George.W..McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, William M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton, City Clerk <br />R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. <br />McCarthy, City Engineer Cecil Longeon, Assistant Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, <br />Police Chief C. L..Collins, Street Superintendent R. E. Pontow, Assistant Engineer <br />H. L. Winter, City Collector Paul E. Perrin, Absent: Councilman Carl A. <br />Britschgi. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Armstrong. .Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication from the City Employees' Association was received requesting permission to <br />install coca -cola vending machines in the City Hall, the location of said machines <br />to meet with the City Manager's approval. Councilman Armstrong asked if this <br />i <br />required Council approval and City Manager Blom stated that he believed the Council <br />'i <br />should be advised because of locating the machines on public property. Councilman <br />Armstrong asked if there would be any.liability on the part of the city,by allowing <br />the machines to be installed and City Manager Blom advised there would be none. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the City Employees' <br />�1 <br />Association request be granted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Petition to pave alley bounded by Cleveland, Fulton, Jackson and Jefferson and running <br />I <br />parallel to Jackson and Jefferson was received. City Manager Blom advised that the <br />i' <br />petition had just been received and that he had not had an opportunity to study it. <br />�r <br />He had discussed the.petition with one of the signers and had advised him that a <br />previous request had been received from property owners on another alley two blocks <br />south of this one and that unless more property could be obtained it would be a <br />fill <br />I <br />very costly project. Councilman Armstrong moved that the petition and collateral <br />
