.
1
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this City Council go on record as favoring the 137
passage by the State Legislature of the proposed Geddes -Davis bill, with this ex-
ception: that the.joint family income figure be raised from $200.00 per month,
which, if established, would almost certainly result in the elimination of the
Child Care program to a figure which is an adequate reflection of the actual con-
ditions of employment in this state.
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of this City be directed to send true
certified copies of this resolution to Senator Harry Parkman, Assemblyman Richard
Dolwig, and the Parents Committee of the Child Care Center of this City.
The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on 'the 17th day of
March, 1947, by the following vote:
AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:
Councilmen: ARMSTRONG, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
NOES: Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Councilmen: BRITSCHGI.
ATTEST:
RALPH S. DODGE
Clerk of the City of Redwood City
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
I hereby approve the foregoing resolution this
17th day of March, 1947-
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
In regard to the Joaquin Sablan abatement proceedings, City Manager Blom advised that
the Building Inspector had requested that the matter be continued on the agenda
as progress is being made in the matter. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by
Councilman Werder, that the matter be carried on the agenda to the second meeting
in April.. Motion passed unanimously.
i.
In regard to Ambulance Service within the City, City Manager Blom advised that Mr.
Ratliff had addressed a communication to the Council at the last meeting requesting
an audience in regard to his company, the Peninsula Ambulance Service, furnishing
!i
service to the city with payment from the city for that service. City Manager
s
t
},
Blom advised that it has been found necessary to call on Mr. Ratliff for service
from his ambulances. The county ambulance is stationed in Redwood City during the
4
night and that service is generally adequate, however, during the day it is not
always available. The County from time to time has had to call Mr. Ratliff when
unable to provide service from their own ambulances. Mr. Blom stated that Mr.
Ratliff had been very cooperative and in some cases had not been paid for his
services inasmuch as the city has no fund set up for such service and the people
for whom the ambulance was called either could not or did not pay. During the
past year, according to Mr. Ratliff's figures, he was called 34 times; according
to Police Department records, 22 times. The County is purchasing two new ambul-
ances but as soon as they arrive two old ones will be retired so that there will
be no additional facilities or improved service. Mr. Ratliff is asking that the
I
I
city subsidize his service at the rate of $100 per month. If he accepts emergency
calls, his insurance rate will be 50% higher than if he accepts only doctors calls.
4,4
Mr: Ratliff appeared and advised that he would have two ambulances to serve Redwood
City and that if he were subsidized by the City that he could establish two-way
h
