140 W-11 '
chiropody does not involve the practice of medicine or surgery, either major of minor".
Therefore, he was of the opinion that a chiropodist cannot conduct such occupation in
the first residential district. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman
Granger, that the Clerk be instructed to inform the applicant that -the Council,
upon the City Attorney's advice, feels that the application is in violation of the
zoning ordinance and is, therefore, denied, and that a copy of the City Attorney's
opinion be forwarded with the letter to Mrs. Auerbach. Motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Blom presented schedule for relocation of parking meters to conform with ,
the new requirements on California, Perry Streets and other changes as recommended.
A resolution embodying the changes was read and discussed. A suggestion by the
City Manager that the parking meters be eliminated from the easterly side of
California Street was not looked upon .with favor at this time.. He also suggested
certain changes that could be made in the location of two hour meters which was
approved. Councilman Armstrong offered resolution changing the location of parking
meters as outlined by the City Manager and moved its adoption, seconded by Council-
man Werder. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Councilman
Britschgi absent. Councilman Werder believed some effort should be made to check
people in regard to putting money in for more than one hour's parking in the same
location.
This was the time for public hearing on the Weed Abatement proceedings. Councilman
r
Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, filing of affidavit of.posting of
weed abatement notices. Motion passed unanimously.
The Mayor called for protests and there were none. Councilman McNulty offered resolu-
tion ordering the Street Superintendent to abate weeds and moved its adoption,
seconded by Councilman Werder. On roll call, resolution was unaniiiously adopted
with Councilman Britschgi absent.
RESOLUTION No. 449
REQUIRING THE ABATEMENT OF A NUISANCE.
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Redwood City did, on the 17th day of
February, 1947, pass and adopt Resolution No. 440, Declaring Weeds a Nuisance and
Ordering Their Removal, in which resolution it was declared that noxious or
dangerous weeds were growing upon all the sidewalks, streets, avenues roads,
boulevards and highways in said city, and upon all the lots and property in said
city, which weeds are of a kind which bear seeds of a wingy or downy nature and
will attain such large growth as to become a fire menace when dry, and that said
weeds constitute a public nuisance; and
WHEREAS, after the passage of said Resolution No. 440 Declaring Weeds a
Nuisance and Ordering Their Removal, the Superintendent of Streets of the City
of Redwood City duly and regularly caused to be posted notices of the passage of
said resolution in time, form, manner and number as required by law; and
WHEREAS, at the time fixed in said notices and in said resolution when ob-
jections to the removal of such weeds would be heard and given consideration by
the Council of the City of Redwood City, no objections of any kind were made
against the removal of said weeds, and said Council now having acquired juris-
diction thereof;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that
the Superintendent of Streets of said city be and he is hereby ordered and
directed to abate the nuisance existing as specified in said Resolution No. 440
Declaring Weeds a Nuisance and Ordering Their Removal, and as provided by law.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of
the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of
March, 1947, by the following vote:
AYES and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:
Councilmen: AR[4STRONG, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
NOES: Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Councilmen: BRITSCHGI.
A
