ME -/14 8 <br />estimate had been based on what it would cost to build the system plus depreciation. <br />He felt that the water company must be including in their figure some figure of <br />going concern on revenue -basis. tt was the recommendation of the City Manager that <br />the Council now offer the water company the sum of $25,500 - spreading the difference <br />between the figures now had. Councilman Armstrong asked the alternative if the <br />company does not accept the figure. City Manager Blom advised there were two <br />alternatives, one to ask the Railroad Commission to make an appraisal and set a <br />price which would take several months; or the property could be condemned. Either <br />procedure would be a protracted one according to the City Attorney. Councilman <br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the City Manager'be instructed <br />to further negotiate with the California Water Service Company for the water system <br />in Redwood Village along the lines of his recommendation. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom reported that notices were sent to about 25 property owners who failed <br />to trim, the hedges at intersections. Only four have either failed to comply with <br />the ordinance or have the city do the work. He asked authority to have the city <br />do the work on these properties and charge the cost against the property. City. <br />Attorney McCarthy advised the city had the right to do so if the property owners <br />were not complying with the ordinance. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by <br />Councilman McNulty, that the City Manager be authorized to have the hedges trimmed <br />by the city crews on those properties whose owners have not completed trimming of <br />their hedges. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Clerk Dodge presented resolution transferring $1695 from the Unbudgeted Reserve to <br />the Fire Department Building Repairs Account to cover the cost of repairs to Fire <br />Station No. 2. City Manager Blom advised this was the total cost of repairs and <br />includes additional work which was not originally included. Councilman Armstrong <br />offered resolution transferring $1695 from Unbudgeted Reserve to the Fire Depart- <br />ment Building Repairs Account and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty. On roll call, resolution was unanimously. <br />RES0LUTI ON No. 454 <br />AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM UNBUDGETED RESERVE <br />RESOLVED that the sum of Sixteen Hundred Ninety Five and 52/100 be and'it is <br />hereby authorized to be transferred by the City Treasurer from the Unbudgeted <br />Reserve to Account No. 422-9, Fire Department Building Repairs. <br />The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of <br />the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of <br />March, 1947, by the following vote: <br />AYES and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: ARMSTRONG, GRANGER, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON. <br />NOES and against the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: NONE at' <br />ABSENT: Councilmen: BRITSCHGI <br />.w <br />} A <br />W.
