ITY MANAGE L40M advised that a sufficient number of property owners had signed petitions
for the improvement of one block of Johnson Street and four blocks of alleys bounded
by Cleveland, Jackson, Fulton and Jefferson.
The Council had referred to the Plan-
ning Commission the matter of permitting a second house to be built on lots facing
the alley. A communication from the Planning Commission was read recommending the
the adoption of an interim ordinance which provided against homes being built facing
the alley. This would be an emergency ordinance and effective until such time as
the revised zoning ordinance is adopted. Councilman Werder believed the petitioners
should be advised of this action inasmuch as it might have been their intention
to build facing the alley when the petition was signed, and suggested that the
petitioners be circularized and informed of the action of the Council. On this
basis, he offered for adoption resolution of preliminary intention to pave Johnson
Street and the above mentioned alleys, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, who
seconded the motion with the understanding that the Building Inspector be instruc-
ted not to issue permits for buildings facing on the alley until the ordinance
takes effect. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Councilman
,Armstrong absent.
RE S GLUT I ON No. 471
RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION TO MAKE PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS ON
JOHNSON STREET, BETWEEN ROOSEVELT AVENUE AND OAK AVENUE, AND ALLEYS IN
BLOCKS 11, 122 18 and 20, EAGLE HILL EDITION
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that it does hereby
preliminarily determine that public convenience and necessity require, and that it
intends to order, the following work to be done and improvements to be made in and
for said City, to wit:
The proposed improvements as set forth in Exhibit "A". attached hereto, to
which reference is hereby made and the same is incorporated herein and made a
part hereof.
The exterior boundaries of -the district to be benefited by said proposed
improvements is set forth in Exhibit °B°, attached hereto, reference to which
is hereby made and the same incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
All of said work and improvements are to be constructed at the places and in
the particular locations, of the forms, sizes, dimensions and materials, and to
the lines and grades and elevations as they have been shown and delineated upon
the plans, profiles and specifications to be made therefor and adopted by the
City Council of said City.
RESOLVED that the cost and expense, including expenses incidental thereto,
of the construction and installation of the proposed improvements shall be met
by special assessments, or through special assessment taxes, upon the lands
benefited by the improvements proposed and included within said assessment district,
as the boundaries are set forth in Exhibit °B°, attached hereto.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments and
bear interest at the rate of not to exceed six (6) per cent per annum will be
issued pursuant to Article I, Section 3 and Section 5 of Ordinance No. 333 of
said City, commonly known and designated as "Redwood City Improvement Procedure
Ordinance". adopted May 14, 1932, as amended, the last installment of which bonds
shall mature nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding
October 15 following their date.
Except as herein otherwise provided for the issuance of bonds, all of the
proposed work shall be done in pursuance of the provisions of Article I of said
"Redwood City Improvement Procedure Ordinance".
Notice is hereby given that Monday the 19th day of May, 1947, at the hour
of 5:00 p.m., at the Council Chambers in the City Hall of said City, are hereby
fixed as the time and place when and where all persons interested may appear
and show cause, if any they have, why the City Council should not find and deter-
mine that the public convenience and necessity require the improvements described
and referred to in this resolution, without further compliance with the Special
Assessment, Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931.
The City Clerk shall give notice of the adoption of this resolution by
publishing a Notice of Proposed Local Improvement once in the Redwood City
Tribune, a daily newspaper published and circulated in said City, and by posting
same on or near the Council Chamber door of said Council, said posting and
publication to be had at least ten days before the date of said hearing.
Regularly passed and adopted this 5th day of May, 1947.
7
I
Q
i
