DODGE
Clerk of the City of Redwood City
I hereby approve the foregoing Resolution this
5th day of May, 1947.
W. W. It was explained that this ordi-
nance was necessary to provide for the new position's added since the present ordi-
nance went into effect and also listed the differently combined positions; such as
Auditor -Assessor, etc. The ordinance provides that these salaries shall be effective
as of January 1, 1947. In regard to the salary for a street inspector in the Engin-
eering Department, City Manager Blom advised that this inspector is necessary for
different assessment projects and that the city paid his salary but that the cost
would be assessed to the various districts. Councilman McNulty offered introduction
of amended salary ordinance, seconded by Councilman t4erder. Motion passed unanimously.
CITY 14ANAGER BLOM ADVISED THAT THE CITY HAD BEEN FURNISHING POUND SERVICE to the City of
San Carlos for some years.for $25.00 a month. The city does not patrol San Carlos
but does accept calls from their police department and residents. The work for one
man is now too much for him to handle and it would not be to the city's advantage to
hire another one to take care of the additional work. He recommended that the City
of San Carlos be notified that pound service cannot be furnished after July 1, 1947.
Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the City Managers
recommendation be accepted. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi asked if any
animals from the Pound were sold for vivisection purposes. City Manager Blom stated
that there was no way of proving they were, however, he --did not believe that this
was being done because of the expense in getting a dog from the pound. Motion
passed unanimously.
COMPUTATION OF BIDS ON THE VALOTA ROAD SEWERS WERE RECEIVED. The Gabriel Construction
Company was low with a bid of $7,443.34, and it was the recommendation of the City
Manager that this bid be accepted. Councilman Britschgi offered resolution accepting
the bid of the Gabrlel.Construction Company and authorizing the City Manager to
enter into a contract with them and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman
Werder. Under the question, Councilman Granger asked if the inspector's salary was
included in the contract. City Manager Blom replied that it was not - that the
cost of that would be assessed to the district but that the contractor did not pay
for the cost of inspection his work. On roll call, resolution was unanimously
i adopted with Councilman'Armstrong absent.
