HILTON <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI ASKED IF MONEY SET ASIDE IN THE BUDGET FOR STREET MAINTENANCE . <br />WORK was to be used before the end of the fiscal year. City Manager Blom advised <br />that it was hoped to be. He believed that most of the streets were in such'a <br />condition that the work should be done under contract. <br />CLAIMS NO. 1383 to 1470 in the amount of $21,562.55 were approved and ordered paid on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Under the <br />question, Councilman Werder questioned the different fees charged for sobriety <br />tests. It was explained that a different fee was charged for day and night tests. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN WERDER STATED TFAT AT THE LAST MEETING THE RESIGNATION OF COUNCILMAN <br />ARMSTRONG had been received due to ill health and that the Council had requested <br />him to reconsider and, if possible, continue as a member of the Council. However, <br />Councilman Armstrong was still desirous of resigning and Councilman Werder moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift „ that the Council accept the resignation of Council- <br />man Armstrong with regret and that the City Clerk be asked to write him expressing <br />the sincere thanks of the Council for time spent by him while a member and ex- <br />pressing regret at losing him as a member. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUBMITTED THE NAME OF ED17IN HOLMQUIST to fill the unexpired term of <br />Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman McNulty. Under the question, Coun- <br />cilman Britschgi protested the manner in which the vacancy was being filled and <br />stated he had not been consulted in regard to it at all. He said that while he <br />had nothing against Mr. -Holmquist, he was going to vote against the motion <br />because of not having been consulted. A roll call vote was requested and the. <br />following vote recorded: AYES and in favor of the motion: Councilmen: Granger, <br />McNulty, swift and Mayor Hilton. Noes and against the motion: Councilman <br />Britschgi. Not voting: Councilman Werder. <br />COUNCILMAN WERDER moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the meeting be <br />adjourned.
