�1CITY CLERK DODGE ADVISED THAT HE HAD NOTIFIED THE VARIOUS COMMISSIONS OF THE COUNCILIS 201 <br />. REQUEST FOR A RECORD OF ATTENDANCE. Answers had been received from the Planning <br />Commission and Traffic and Safety Commission. The records were presented to the <br />Council for their perusal.. <br />IN REGARD TO THE REQUEST FOR FUNDS TO CONDUCT INDUSTRIAL SURVEY BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, <br />it was decided that this matter would be discussed at a meeting to be held to consider <br />the 1947-49 budgets. <br />rill <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE REPORTED ON MATTER OF REGULATING BEES. He advised that the City of <br />Burlingame had adopted an ordinance which prevented the keeping of bees within 150 <br />feet of the nearest residence and also providing that if the bees proved to be a <br />rYi nuisance the keeping of.them is prohibited. The county Agricultural Department had <br />ill :.I <br />reported that there are about forty bee keepers in the city and that they checked <br />the bees for disease only. The county was very much in favor of an ordinance being <br />enacted to control the keeping of bees within the city: Councilman Granger moved, <br />a <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Attorney lie instructed to prepare an. <br />ordinance along the lines of the ordinance of the City of. Burlingame in regard to <br />the keeping of bees and including the nuisance provision. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED IF THE PERMIT FOR THE STEEL FRAME BUILDING ON EL CAMINO REAL <br />HAD EXPRIED, City Manager Blom was to check and order its removal if the permit <br />has expired. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT STOP SIGNS BE INSTALLED ON MIDDLEFIELD ROAD BETWEEN THE <br />BAYSHORE HIGftWAY AND BROADWAY. He moved that the matter be referred to the Traffic <br />and Safety Commission,.seconded by Councilman McNulty. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER REFERRED TO NEWSPAPER ARTICLE IN REGARD TO THE POSSIBILITY OF AN <br />ARMORY TO BE LOCATED IN THE CITY. He believed that it would be advantageous to the <br />city and moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the City Manager be instructed to <br />see if it is possible to locate a suitable site for the armory in Redwood City and 'bo <br />report back to the Council. Motion passed unanimously. - <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT THE POSSIBILITY OF OPENING BUCKEYE STREET be studied. <br />City Manager Blom was to check into the matter. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI ANNOUNCED THAT A MEETING OF THE BUSINESS LICENSE COMMITTEE would be <br />held Thursday evening, June 5th, and asked all councilmen to be present.. He ex- <br />plained that an ordinance would be presented at that time and it was desired to <br />make it•effective July let. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI QUESTIONED CLAIM OF R. E. MOTT for preparing plans for sprinkling <br />system at Hawes Park. It was his opinion that the plans could have been drawn by <br />the Engineering Department. A discussion followed as to how long Mr. Mott was to <br />be engaged to do.this type of work. City Manager Blom advised that the Engineering <br />Department was not able to absorb all the work which is coming into the department <br />and in order not to delay too many projects it was necessary to hire outside <br />assistance at times. <br />COUNCILMAN WERDER PRESENTED RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING JUNE 21st AS "DRESS UP DAY" in cele- <br />bration of the 4th of July Rodeo and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman <br />Swift.
