Safeway Stores were interested in receiving a reply in regard to the plans which 221
had been submitted. Under the resolution, the plans had to be submitted within one
year's time and the Safeway Stores were interested in having their records show that
this had been done. The plans had been submitted to the Planning Commission who had
not approved them. It was brought out by both the City Manager and City Attorney
that if a new zoning ordinance were adopted, it was recommended in the Master Plan
that this area be rezoned to commerical district and also, that the ordinance would
include a provision which would enable the Council to legally grant a use permit.
The City Clerk was.instructed to address a communication to the Safeway Stores, Inc.
informing them that the plans as submitted were not acceptable, that the Council did
not have the authority to grant a variance and, also, that,a new zoning ordinance
was being considered.
COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE STATE PERSONNEL BOARD attaching a resolution providing
for contract to be entered into to provide examining service, etc. It was the recom-
mendation of the City Manager that the resolution be adopted. Councilman Werder
offered the resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with
the State Personnel Board for examining services, etc., and moved its adoption,
seconded by'Councilman Britschgi. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted.
RESOLUTION No. 486
AUTHORIZING CONTRACT WITH STATE PERSONNEL BOARD FOR EXAMINING SERVICES
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that a contract between
the City and the California State Personnel Board, for performance by the said Board
of Technical Personnel Services, pursuant to authority contained in Section 18707,
Government Code, be and the same is hereby authorized;
FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to enter
into such contract, in accordance with the form thereof exhibited to the City Council
on the 7th day of July, 1947.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular
I meeting thereof held on the 7th day of July, 1947, by the following vote:
II` AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:
; Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, McNULTY, HOLMQUIST$ SWIFT, WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
NOES, Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE
W.
