228 "a <br />advised. -that it had been -previously -:discussed with the Council to sell this line to M. J. <br />King Co. of Redwood Manor. Authorization was received from the Council to negotiate <br />with them for the sale of the water line in Spring Street. The California Water <br />Service Company is taking over.supplying water to Redwood Manor and the City Manager <br />was asking for authority to proceed with the sale of this line to the California <br />Water. Service at $1.50 per foot. A term of the sale would be to release the city <br />_ <br />of any responsibility of furnishing water to that area as provided under an agree- <br />111 <br />ment.in connection with the Canine property. The City Manager believed the price <br />was a fair one and stated that in the event Friendly Acres were annexed to the city, <br />the city would buy the whole system which would include this line. Councilman <br />Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Granger, that the City Manager be authorized <br />to negotiate with the California dater Service Company for the purchase of the <br />111 <br />Spring Street water -line. The motion was seconded by Councilman Granger with the <br />understanding that the'City Attorney give an opinion as to the legality. City <br />Attorney Currie advised that the -sale might have to be advertised for bids. The <br />motion was changed so that the City Manager was authorized to negotiate with the <br />California Water Service Company subject to the ruling of the City Attorney as to <br />whether or not it would be necessary to advertise for bids. The motion passed <br />with Councilman Holmquist voting in the negative. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER OFFERED INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE changing name of Rogers Street to <br />Whipple Avenue, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN McNULTY OFFERED RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DEED to Assenza property consisting of <br />5-1/2 feet on Broadway opposite Wharf Street and moved its adoption, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />1: <br />RESOLUTION No. 489 <br />ACCEPTING DEED FROM BENEDICT ASSENZA AND ANGELA ASSENZA, HIS WIFE <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, that the deed from <br />BENEDICT ASSENZA and ANGELA ASSENZA, his wife, to the City of Redwood City, dated <br />May , 1947, be accepted by and on behalf of said City, said deed being for <br />the following described property: <br />BEGINNING at a point on the Southerly line of Broadway, formerly called "All <br />Street, distant thereon S 560 30' W 252.12 feet from the Westerly line of <br />MainStreet, as same is shown on that certain map entitled "Town of Mezesville° <br />which map was filed in the office of the County Recorder of San Mateo County <br />on Augustl, 1556, in Book I of Maps at page 79; thence from said point of <br />beginning on a line parallel with the Westerly line of Main Street S 30 30' <br />East 100 feet; thence S 560 30' W 5.50 feet to property conveyed to Shelley <br />A. Thompson and wife by Deed recorded March 1, 1945, under File No. 4155 F; <br />thence N 30 30' West 100 feet to the Southerly line of Broadway; thence <br />along said Southerly line of Broadway N 560 30' East 5.50 feet to the point <br />of beginning. <br />BEING PORTION OF Lots 62 and b3, as shown on above described map. ,- <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Redwood City receive the conveyance of <br />said real property subject to the terms set forth in said deed conveying the title <br />to said property to the City of Redwood City. <br />I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of Resolution No. 489, <br />adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of <br />July, 1947, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, Redwood City, California. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of said City <br />this 7th day of July, 1947.
