242 <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM CALIFORNIA MISSION TRAILS ASSOCIATION, LTD. expressing <br />appreciation for allocation of $150.00 provided in the budget for the general adver- <br />tiging fund of the California Mission Trails Association. Communication was ordered <br />filed. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM CORAL MAXON requesting permission to construct a trailer <br />court on Bayshore Highway in the Friend Industrial Tract. Councilman Granger was <br />of the opinion that such matters should be on the agenda and some publicity,given the a9 <br />matter before the meeting. City Manager Blom advised that no sketch had been sub - <br />matted with the application. Councilman Britsehgi moved, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, that the matter be referred to the City Manager and placed on the agenda. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />SAM SHASKY appeared before the Council requesting permission to install plumbing fix- <br />tures adjoining a room over a garage at 119 Grand Street. Work has been started <br />and he was informed that it would be necessary to have a permit from the Council <br />before completing it. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that <br />the permit be granted with the understanding that there is to be no cooking <br />facilities installed. Under the question, Councilman Britschgi believed this was <br />an ordinance which needed revising. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Mr. ANDREW SIFUENTES, 91b Walnut Street, appeared before the Council requesting permis- <br />sion to display outdoor advertising along with movies at several locations within <br />the city. The advertising would be in the nature of slides. Councilman Granger <br />.I <br />questioned whether this would be classified as a theatre. The City Attorney had <br />had no opportunity to review the application and Councilman Werder moved that in- <br />asmuch as there was a question as to whether the application would come under -the <br />ordinance regulating theatres the matter be referred to the City Attorney for a <br />report, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. Under the question, it was also <br />decided that the Board of Review Committee also meet with the City Attorney on the <br />matter. The motion passed unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE BURLINGAME ADVANCE advising of a San Mateo County <br />Fiesta Edition to be published and suggesting an advertisement layout for the <br />City of Redwood City, quoting the price of $250 for a double page and $150 for a <br />single page. Councilman Swift moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the <br />matter be referred to the Chamber of Commerce. Under the question, Councilman <br />Werder asked Mr. Butler of the Chamber of Commerce who was in the audience if the <br />Chamber had discussed this matter. Mr. Butler advised that It had been discussed <br />informally but there was a question as to whether it would be worthwhile. City r <br />Manager Blom stated that there is a fund set aside to be jointly expended by the i <br />Chamber of Commerce and City Manager and that the majority of this fund had it <br />usually been used to print maps of the city. He believed the maps would be of <br />• i <br />more value than the advertisement. The motion passed unanimously. <br />�� <br />COMMUNICATION WAS RECEIVED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION forwarding an application from <br />James Murdock for permission to construct a body, fender and paint shop at Cedar <br />and Lathrop Streets with the recommendation that if the application is granted <br />that it be subject to all work being done within the building and no work to be <br />allowed on the proposed concrete slab in front of the building. <br />Mr. Murdock appeared in behalf of his application and explained the proposed location. <br />
