258= <br />in the matter. City Attorney Currie advised that the contract can be enforced. The City Attorney <br />was to contact Mr. Ernest Wilson, Attorney for the project, and the property owners to determine <br />whether a satisfactory decision can be reached or legal action would be instituted. Councilman <br />Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the City Attorney contact the property <br />owners, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Frost to see if the problem can be worked out. Motion passed unanimously. <br />APPPLICATION FOR SIGN PERMIT WAS RECEIVED FROM THE PIONEER CLUB IN WOODSIDE. It was requested to erect <br />a directional sign bn the Five Points Hotel. Councilman Holmquist moved, seconded by Councilman <br />McNulty, that the permit be denied on the grounds that it advertised business outside the city <br />and the sign was too large. Motion -passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER MO'ED, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI; THAT ROSS CHAMBERLAIN BE NOTIFIED TO REMOVE <br />SIGN AT C.gESTNUT AND BAYSHORE. Motion passed unanimously. . <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE PRESENTED OPINION ON LEGALITY OF HAHN AND CAMPBELL being retained to prepare the <br />zoning ordinance inasmuch as Lawrence Wise, a member of their firm, is employed as m cretary of the <br />Planning Commission. It was his opinion that as long as Mr. Wise was an officer of the Commission <br />the firm could not legally be warded the contract, however, if he resigned the position of an <br />officer the firm would be entitled to the business and he could remain in the'employ.of the Com— <br />mission. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the Planning Commission and <br />Hahn and Campbell be furnished a copy of the City Attorney's report with an expression f rom the <br />Council that the situation at the present time cannot continue. Motion passed unanimously. <br />COUNCILMAN WERDER MOVED, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI, ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION accepting deed to Lot <br />16, Block 605, Emerald Lake Subdivision. This lot was appraised at $$250 and a condemnation suit <br />is pending. The owner, Mrs. Livingston agreed to accept the appraised value. On roll call, the <br />resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />RES 0 LUT IO N N0. 505 . <br />ACCEPTING DEED FROM RUTH PAGE LIVINGSTONE <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the deed from RUTH PAGE LIVINGSTONE <br />to the City of Redwood City, dated July 17, 1947, be accepted by and on behalf of said City, -;,said <br />deed being for the following described property:. <br />Lot 16 in Block 605, as designated on the map entitled "HIGHLANDS <br />OF EMERALD LAKE SUBDIVISION SIX", which map was filed in the office <br />of the Recorder of the County of San Mateo, State of California, <br />on May 4, 1927, in Book 15 of Maps, at pages 64,65 and 66. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood bity at a regular meeting thereof <br />held on the 18th day of August, 1947,'by the following vote:. <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the f6regoing resolution: Councilmen: <br />BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, McNULTY, SWIFT, WERDER AND HILTON. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: NONE w <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S.
