2? <br />Communication was received from the.Planning -Commission. recommending favorable <br />action on the application of H. E.,Holmquist to rezone Block 1, Sweeneys Addi- <br />tion from second residential to business distriot, fisre zone No. 2. A copy of <br />resolution passed by the Planning Commission was attached to the letter. Coun- <br />oilman Granger roved, seconded by Councilman Warder, that the Council concur in <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Two applications for cancellation of taxes were received from the Veterans' Welfare <br />Board. City Attorney McCarthy.advised that the Attorney General had recom- <br />mended such requests be denied. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Council- <br />man McNulty, that the requests for concellation of taxes by the Veterans' Wel- <br />fare Board be denied. Motion passed unanimously. City Manager Blom stated <br />that in view of the Attorney General's ruling, it might be possible that vet- <br />erans purchasing on contract from the Welfare Board might claim veterans' <br />.exemption. <br />City Clerk Dodge reported that in sending out the notices for assessments in Redwood <br />Terrace No. 1, the city holds tax deeded property in this subdivision and. the <br />assessments against it amount to $4,439.70. It was believed that this property <br />would increase in value so that it would be possible to sell it. <br />Claims No. 358 to 408 in the amount of $150052.52 were approved and ordered paid on <br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Granger. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the meeting be ad- <br />journed to Tuesday, October 29, at 8:00 P. M. M. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. <br />Granger, Arthur V. Swift, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy. <br />Absent: Councilmen C. 0. Armstrong, George W. McNulty and William M. Werder. <br />The Mayor explained the purpose of this adjourned meeting was for the purpose of <br />adopting the revised salary ordinance. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, filing of affidavit <br />of publication of revised salary ordinance. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, adoption of revised <br />salary ordinance. On roll call, ordinance was unanimously adopted with Ooun- <br />oilmen Armstrong, McNulty and Wards absent. <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the minutes show that <br />Councilman Armstrong was absent from the meeting due to illness. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Amendment to the procedure ordinance was next discussed. City Clerk Dodge read <br />communication received from Mark E. Ryan protesting the proposed amendment. <br />Councilman McNulty entered the meeting. <br />
