Council - <br />11 <br />man Holmquist so moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN SWIFT INQUIRED ABOUT PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM which has been out of order for sev- <br />era! weeks. Chief Lodi advised he had been contacting Mr. Fratti who was having dif- <br />ficulty in securing parts. Chief Lodi will keep after Fratti•in an effort to have <br />system working. 1711 <br />CITY ENGINEER LONGSON, in answer to query from Councilman Britschgi regarding condition of <br />streets, stated that in many cases sub -base was in bad condition and would have to <br />be torn up and renewed. This will take considerable time and will cost considerable. <br />Program is being worked out to correct the situation over a period of years. <br />Claims Number 2255 to 2393 inclusive were approved for payment on motion of Councilman <br />McNulty, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />Adjournment. <br />4*. <br />RALPH 9. M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilman Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br />H. E. Holmquist, A. V. Swift, William E. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk <br />R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. A. Rolison, Police Chief C.•.L. <br />Collins, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, -Auditor J. J. Brophy <br />City Attorney C. Be Currie, Assistant Engineers H. L. Winter and Robert Parlett, and t■I <br />City Collector Paul Perrin. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES. Approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist and.carried. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM REDWOOD CAB COMPANY requesting six months extension of time <br />to permit receipt of new cars, 5th and 6th taxi permits, After discussion, Councilman <br />Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that extension of 90 days be granted. <br />Motion carried. <br />PERMISSION GRANTED TO S. 41. VOLL, 447 Madison Avenue to construct duplex dwelling on <br />Lot 7 and a portion of Lot 6, Eagle Hill Addition on motion of Councilman Werder, <br />seconded by Councilman Holmquist with the understanding that no building would be <br />allowed to face on alley in rear. Motion carried. <br />APPLICATION FOR RESTAURANT LICENSE RECEIVED from E. and V. Jacobsen, known as Elliott's <br />Fountain Restaurant, 2095 Broadway. All inspections of the premises were favorable, <br />and license was authorized on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Council- <br />man Werder, and carried. <br />EDGAR J. VRAUER APPLIED FOR RESTAURANT LICENSE known as Cozy Corner Restaurant, 701 E1 <br />Camino Real. All inspections of premises satisfactory. License authorized on <br />G� <br />motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Motion carried. <br />RUMMAGE SALE BY ST. PETERS WOMENS AUXILIARY, November 7 and 5 in the old First National <br />Bank Building was authorized on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Council- <br />man Swift and carried. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES recommending that city acknow- <br />ledge receipt of Liquor License allocation from the State Controller and protest <br />
