290T.) 0D <br />and son Norman Hynding together with legal representative, Al McGovern, appeared, <br />advising that they desired to renovate.and-modernize the building by tearing off the <br />upstairs portion of building and repairing the lower portion to comply with all build- <br />ing ordinances. They proposed to put new concrete foundations, tile front, new <br />wiring and in general make the building suitable in appearance and construction. It <br />was explained to Mr. Hynding that the area was included in the first,fire district, <br />and under ordinance,'building could not be repaired if alterations exceeded 20% of <br />the value of the building. On motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman <br />Swift, the matter was referred back to the Building Inspector to furnish a list of <br />repairs necessary to Mr. Hynding and to establish the percentage of value of the <br />building covered by such repairs, and to Cary on agenda for the next regular meeting. <br />Motion carried. ISI® <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the abatement proceedings <br />.Hynding property be duly and regularly continued to November 3rd at 5:00 P. M.' <br />Motion carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDING FABBRO PROPERTY, Arguello Street, Mr. Nich Fabbro explained to the <br />Council that he had not been able to have the apartment finished as he was held up <br />by contractor. He was advised by Building Inspector that permit had not been taken <br />out covering the work, and was advised to get a new contractor to complete the work <br />as promised some three or four months ago. Regarding the old building, it was ex- <br />plained the Council did not desire to turn any tenants into the street, but that <br />I <br />Mr. Fabbro should set a time limit in response to which he agreed on a period of <br />30 days. On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Swift, abatement <br />'r <br />proceedings were duly.and regularly continued until November 17th. Motion carried. <br />APPLICATION TO SUBDIVIDE LOTS 1 & 6, EAGLE HILL ADDITION. Mrs. Frances Amherd appeared <br />to inquire as to action of Council. Planning Commission recommended application of <br />Mrs. Amherd be allowed inasmuch as lots will have adequate area -to meet requirements: a <br />1 <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, approval of Planning Com- f <br />mission recommendation. Motion carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS BUILDING 1042 MAIN STREET, Mr..Wm Gross, owner, appeared before the <br />Council and advised that he was working on a proposition to construct a new building <br />and asking for an extension of time before ordering the building abated. Councilman <br />t <br />Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist that matter be placed on agenda <br />i <br />for the first meeting in January with the understanding that an attempt would be <br />made to find a new location for the tenant. Motion carried. <br />ANNEXATION KENSINGTON SQUARE. City Attorney Currie suggested that the date be set for <br />' the election, polling places and election officers chosen and all other details <br />r <br />worked out and that resolution be ready for adoption at an adjourned meeting <br />r <br />Monday evening, October 27th. He stated he would get together with the people from <br />Kensington Square during the week to work out the details.
