He asked for per- mit to pickup scrap metal and batteries to be sold at his garage in Menlo Park. Coun- ? oilman Britschgi moved that permit be approved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. After some discussion of the licensing of the present junk dealers operating within the City of Redwood City, Councilman Britschgi amended his motion to require that Mr. Bozzuto be required to pay the same license that is paid by other local junk dealers. Motion passed as amended. I. i CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CITY, filed by Doris Tatum, as guardian of Judith Lee Tatum, in the sum of $2,500.00 for injuries incurred while playing in the municipal play- ground, plus medical and doctor's bills presently amount to $79.00, and to include any future doctor bills arising from said injury. Councilman Werder moved that the City deny responsibility for the injuries incurred and that the matter be turned over to City'Attorney Currie for proper action. Councilman McNulty geconded•the motion, which carried. 0014MUNICATION FROM CITY AUDITOR BROPHY listing unpaid personal property assessments for 1947 was read. City Attorney recommended that suits be filed in the proper courts a. to collect the taxes, if necessary. Councilman Werder moved that City Attorney iCurrie be authorized to file suits if necessary. Seconded by Councilman Holmquist and passed. ' LETTER FROM PLANNING COMMISSION was read, recommending granting"the application of Anthony Ippolito to resubdivide Lot 6, Block E. Woodside Acres, as per sketch which was submitted to the Council for•inspection. Councilman Britschgi moved approval of the Planning Commission's recommendation. Councilman McNulty seconded -the motion, which carried. fi REQUEST FROM BURT OBARK FOR PERMISSION to conduct a used car lot was read. Councilman -� Granger reminded the Council that the Redwood City Automobile Dealers Association had requested that all such permits be delayed pending a study which they are making. They would like to bring a recommendation before the Planning Commission before the adoption of the zoning ordinance. Councilman Werder moved that the matter be f carried on the agenda, pending a report from City Attorney Currie after meeting with the representatives of the Automobile Dealers Association. Councilman McNulty seconded the motion. Councilman Britschgi raised the point of fairness in making Mr. Obark wait for his selling license, when many service stations were selling used cars on their premises. Councilman Werder remarked that all such infractions should be called to the attention of the police department for their action. Motion carried. COMMUNICATION FROM THE CORCORAN SIGN COMPANY REQUESTING permission to erect two billboards was read. Billboard No. 1, on the west side of Bayshore Highway, on the northerly end of Redwood City Limit, and on the property of Redwood City Supply and Fertilizer Company. Billboard No. 2 on the southeast corner of Bayshore Highway and Chestnut Street, property of City of Redwood City. Permit No. 2 is with the understanding that a suitable lease agreement on this property may be worked out with the City of Redwood City.
