<br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ORDERING, PROCLAIM-
<br />ING, CALLING, GIVING NOTICE OF, AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL
<br />ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE TERRI-
<br />TORY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED THE QUESTION OF WHETHER SUCH TERRITORY SHALL BE
<br />ANNEXED T0, INCORPORATED IN, AND MADE A PARrD OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD OITY,AND
<br />THE PROPERTY THEREIN, AFTER SUCH ANNEXATION, BE SUBJECT TO TAXATION EQUALLY WITH
<br />THE PROPERTY OF SAID CITY OF REDWOOD CITY; ESTABISHING PRECINCTS THEREFORE,
<br />DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACE THEREIN AND APPOINTING A BOARD OF ELECTION OFFI-
<br />CIALS FOR SAID POLLING PLACE AND FIXING THE C014PENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS.
<br />WHEREAS, there has been submitted to the City Council of Redwood City a written
<br />petition signed by not less than one-fourth in number of the qualified electors re-
<br />siding in the territory hereinafter described, as shown by the registration of
<br />voters of the County of San Mateo, State of California, asking that such territory
<br />be annexed to the City of Redwood City, a municipal corporation; and
<br />WHEREAS, on Monday, the 17th day of November, 1947, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock
<br />P. M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall in the City of Redwood City, a hear-
<br />ing was held, at which time any person owning real property within said described
<br />territory proposed to be annexed, having any objections to the proposed annexation,
<br />could 'appear before said City Council and show cause why said territory should not
<br />be so annexed; and
<br />WHEREAS, at said time of said hearing no protests or objections of any kind
<br />.were made to the proposed annexation of Baid territory;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby resolves
<br />as follows:
<br />SECTION 1. A special election is hereby ordered, proclaimed and called on
<br />Tuesday, the 30th day of December, 1947, for the purpose of submitting to the
<br />electors residing in the territory hereinafter described the following proposition:
<br />Proposition No. 1. "Shall North Kensington Square be annexed to the
<br />City of Redwood City and the property therein, after such annexation, be sub-
<br />ject to taxation equally with the property within said City of Redwood City?"
<br />SECTION 2. The territory hereinafter referred to as North Kensington Square
<br />is specifically described as follows:
<br />All that certainvreal property situated in the County of San Mateo, Sate
<br />of California, particularly described as follows:
<br />BEGINNING at a point in the. Northwesterly line of Jefferson Avenue
<br />at the most easterly corner of Lot 12, Block 5, as said lot and block are
<br />shown on that certain map of Kensington Square filed for record November
<br />3rd, 1925, in volume 12 of Maps at pages 74 and 75, San Mateo -County -Records;
<br />,said point is in the present Southwesterly boundary of the City limits
<br />line of Redwood City'; thence along said City limits liner' and along the
<br />Northeasterly line of the above-described Lot 12, N 44o 48' 30" W 157.63
<br />feet to the most Northerly corner thereof; thence leaving said City limits
<br />on and along the Northwesterly line of Lots 12 and 11, Block 5, and their
<br />Southwesterly extension across Upton Street; S 450 11' 30" W 160 feet to
<br />a oint in the Southwesterly line of said street; thence along said line
<br />N+4o 48' 30" W 50.00 feet to the most Easterly corner of Lot 17, Block 4
<br />of said map; thence along the Southeasterly line of said Lot 17, S 450
<br />11' 30" W 110.00 feet to the most Southerly corner Lot Lot 17; thence along
<br />the Southwesterly line of said Lot N 44o 48' 30" W 50.00 feet; to the most
<br />Easterly corner of -Lot 15,•Block 4 of said Map; thence along the South-
<br />easterly line of said lot 15, and its Southwesterly production across the
<br />Alameda de las Pulgas (the Alameda de las Pulgas and Upton Street are as
<br />shown on the above-described map); S 450 11' 30" W 173.25 feet to a point
<br />in the Northeasterly line of that 16.79 acre tract of land now or formerly
<br />belonging to A. W. Pike; thence Northwesterly along the lands now or form-
<br />erly of Pike; N 440 48' 30" West 1298.54 feet to a point in the South
<br />easterly, line of Lot 1, Block 18, Map of Oak Knoll Manor filed May 10,
<br />1916, in Book 10 of Maps at page 4 to 11, inclusive, San Mateo County Rec-
<br />ords; thence Northeasterly along the Southeasterly line of Lot 1, Block
<br />18, to the Westerly line of Canyon Road; thence Northerly along the Wes-
<br />terly line of Canyon Road to the Southwesterly City Limits line; thence
<br />Southeasterly along said City Limits line to the Easterly corner of Oak
<br />Knoll Manor; thence Southwesterly along the boundary between Oak Knoll
<br />Manor and Jefferson Avenue addition (a map of which was filed November
<br />12, 1912, in Book 8 of Maps, page 32, San Mateo County Records), which
<br />line is also the City Limits line, to the Westerly corner of the Jefferson
<br />Avenue addition which corner is also the Northerly corner of Kensington
<br />Square; thence Southeasterly along the City Limits line, which line is
<br />also the boundary between Kensington Square and the Jefferson Avenue
<br />addition, to the point of beginning.
<br />SECTION 3. Such territory so specifically described herein is hereby refer-
<br />red to as North Kensington Square and is so to be indicated on the ballots to be
<br />used in the election at which the question of such annexation is submitted.
<br />SECTION 4. The polls for said election shall be open at 7:00 o'clock A. M.
<br />on the day of said special election and shall be open until 7:00 o'clock P. M. of
