<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilman Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger,
<br />H. E. Holmquist, William E. Werder, Arthur V. Swifts City Clerk R. S. Dodge, Mayor
<br />W. W. Hilton. Also present were: City Manager E. A-. Rolison, City Engineer Glenn M.
<br />Jain, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Auditor J. J. Brophy,
<br />City Attorney C. B. Currie, Assistant Engineer H. L. Winter, Assistant Building
<br />Inspector Stephen. Kreiss, Police Chief C. C. Collins.
<br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by
<br />Councilman Swift. Motion carried.
<br />COMMUNICATION FROM COMMUNITY CHEST OF REDWOOD CITY asking permission to place two "Wishing
<br />i
<br />Wells" at local intersections to receive contributions. The intersections suggested
<br />wore the southwest corner Broadway and California Streets, and the northeast corner
<br />Broadway and Main. On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Swift,
<br />and carried, permission for the Community Chest to place the "Wishing Well" was
<br />granted.
<br />BIDS FOR AUTOMOBILE FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT were reported by the City Manager, as follows:
<br />Brown and McDonnell, Kaiser 4 door Sedan, with white paint job, $2,357.95• Bob
<br />Wondries Motors, Studebaker Champion, white paint job extra, $1905.26. The City
<br />Manager recommended that the bid of Bob Wondries Motors be accepted, since the white
<br />paint job would not cost in excess of $125.00. Councilman Granger moved that the
<br />City Manager's recommendation for acceptance of the Bob Wondries bid be accepted.
<br />Councilman McNulty seconded the motion, which carried.,
<br />COMMUNICATION FROM THE CONTROLLER OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA was read, acknowledging
<br />receipt of protest from the City of Redwood City relative to the apportionment of
<br />liquor license fees. The State Attorney General has issued his formal opinion that
<br />+" by the 1947 amendment to Section 37 of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, those fees _
<br />paid into the State Treasury after the effective date of the amendment are to be
<br />apportioned 100° to the local governmental agencies; and that 50° of the fees so paid
<br />in prior to that time, which have not already been apportioned, shall be apportioned to
<br />them. The payment of the Controller to the City of Redwood City was based.on this
<br />legal ruling. The communication was ordered filed.
<br />NOTICE FROM THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES setting date for dinner meeting was read. The
<br />following Councilmen stated their intention of attending: Councilman Britschgi,
<br />Holmquist, McNulty, swift, Werder, and Mayor Hilton. Councilman Granger reserved
<br />his decision for a later date.
<br />LETTER FROM THE -PLANNING COMMISSION was read, recommending that the application of J. L.
<br />White and W. L. Fauls.tich, to re -subdivide Lots 1 and 2. Block 7 Subdivision A,
<br />Wellesley Park, into two lots facing Arlington Road, be approved by the Council.
<br />Councilman Werder moved that the Planning Commission's recommendation be approved.
<br />Councilman Britschgi seconded the motion, which carried.
<br />LETTER FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION was read, recommending disapproval of the petition
<br />of G. W. Montgomery to re -subdivide Lot 6, Eaton Avenue Villa, into two parcels.
<br />Councilman Britschgi moved that the disapproval of the Planning Commission be approved
<br />by the Council. On second from Councilman McNulty, the motion carried.
<br />REQUEST FOR CONTRIBUTION WAS RECEIVED from the San Mateo County Tuberculosis and Health
