<br />that a public hearing should be held before introduction of the ordinance, Councilman
<br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that meeting of January 5th, 1948
<br />be set for such a hearing, and that the usual notice be published in the Tribune.

<br />BIDS ON CONSTRTtCTION OF RECREATION BUILDING were discussed'by City Manager Rolison who
<br />advised that firm of Carrico & Gautier, 365 Ocean Avenue, San Francisco, was low.

<br />cubic yard for concrete in place -for footings, if required, deeper than the minimum
<br />shown on plans. Councilman Werder movtd introduction of Resolution and adoption

<br />while cost of modernizing present signals would be' approximately 04500 each.
<br />Councilman Granger suggested that, in view of the fact that the City lad expended
<br />money on a recent traffic count, and the need was great, steps should be taken to
<br />get action from the state through some other source than the Highway Commission.
<br />After more discussion, Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty,
<br />that the matter be studied further by the City Manager to report back to the
<br />Council, also that plan to install flood lights at the Whipple
<br />Avenue intersection
<br />be completed. Motion carried.
<br />Recommendation No. 4. Commission suggests that petition of Oakwdod Park residents
<br />to erect slow sights be denied inasmuch as the area is not subjected to fast or
<br />heavy traffic. Councilman Granger moved approval of the recommendation, seconded v
<br />Councilman Britschgi and carried, with the suggestion that City Clerk wfite the
<br />people involved advising them of the Council's action.
<br />Recommendation No. 5. Traffic Commission recommended that diagonal parking be
<br />extended beyond the Mgple & Broadway intersection for a distance of approximately
<br />500 feet. After considerable discussion it was thought that a further study should

<br />be made of conditions from Main and Broadway•through to Chestnut Street with the
<br />i
<br />idea being to make the entire area pa r allel parking, to be referred back to the
<br />Traffic and Safety Commission for further study. Councilman Britschgi so moved,
