Fire <br />Chief Lodi advised that the State Fire Marshall had reported that the'home does <br />not meet the requirements of that office and that the permit would be denied <br />by the State.. Councilman Swift moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the <br />recommendation of the <br />City Attorney <br />be.accepted. <br />Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom advised <br />he had written <br />the new owner <br />of the <br />Rice property on <br />Edgewood Road and had told them of the abatement proceedings pending against <br />the property. A reply had been received from the new owner, Mrs. Muriel J. <br />Williams, who advised that the property was to be occupied by herself and <br />family. Councilman Britscngi moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the <br />abatement proceedings against 225 Eagewood Road be dropped from the agenda: <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Granger suggested that, in view of the unfavorable publicity given the, <br />employment of the firm of J. M. Cleminsnaw Company to prepare a revaluation of <br />real property within the city, Mr. Blom make a public statement to show the <br />figures and grounds on which the city entered into the contract witn.tne <br />Cleminshaw Company. The suggestion was received favorably with the provision <br />that the statement was not to be made in the nature of an apology. City <br />Manager Blom advised that he would be glad to issue an. -.explanatory statement <br />to the press to be.published in the newspaper. <br />Claims in the amount of $25,480.63 were approved and ordered paid on motion of <br />Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Under the question, <br />Councilman Granger questioned the payment of $20.00 to Matthew J. Willoughby. <br />City Attorney McCarthy explained this was for a quit claim deed to a lot which <br />was tax deeded to the city. Councilman Granger also questioned the city pay- <br />ing for sobriety tests.
