Motion passed unanimously.
Communication was received from Nelle L. Miramontes, City Collector, requesting
cancellation of Bond Assessment J-13 in the amount of $250.68 against Lot 10,
Block Y. Eastern Addition, formerly assessed to George Brooks.. Through a
contract with the Real Estate Board, Mr. Brooks made montnly payments on de-
linquent city taxes and street bond assessments and an agreement was made that
when the final payment was made the city would cancel the above mentioned
bond assessment. The final payment has now been made. Councilman Warder
moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, tnat the recommendation of the City
Collector be accepted. Motion passed unanimously. !I■
Communication was received from Nelle L Miramontes, City Collector, requesting
concellation of Bond Series S-4 in the amount of $211.250 and Bond Series J-13
in tn'e amount of $39.43 against Lots 8, 9, S.W. 1/2 of Lot 11, Block 7,
McGarvey Resub of Blocks 7, 8, Eastern Addition. Tne lots were sold for
$975.00 which does not cover all the delinquent bond assessments, therefore,
the above request for cancellation of the assessments was being recommended.
Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, approval of the
recommendation of the City Collector. Motion passed unanimously.
Application for permit to conduct a dancing school for children at the Redwood
City Women's Club was received from Virginia G. Ritschy. City'Attorney
McCarthy read excerpt from the ordinance in regard to type of schools allowed
in the second residential district and advised that while the ordinance does
not specifically mention dancing schools he believed the Council had authority
to grant the permit after a public hearing was held. There was some dis-
cussion in regard to the matter of the necessity of holding a public hearing,
it being Councilman Britsongils opinion that it should not be necessary for
every applicant to be required to submit to a public hearing before conduc-
ting a dancing school. After more discussion, Councilman Warder moved,
seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the City Manager notify the applicant
that it will be necessary to hold a public nearing before the permit can be
granted and the date for the nearing be set for the next regular meeting.
Motion passed unanimously.
The City -Clerk was to prepare and send out notices to property owners within
27b feet of the Women's Club notifying them of the application and public
hearing.
Councilman Britscngi believed the ordinance snould be clarified and Council-
man Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Britscngi, tnat the matter be carried
on the agenda and the City Attorney and City Manager bring in an interpreta-
tion of the ordinance - Ordinance No. 460, Section 4. Motion passed unani-
mously. •
Communication was received from Ralpn R. Brooks and James Zacanti, owners of the
Reno Club, refuting statements made by A. J. Williamson, owner of fertilizer
plant next door to the Reno Club, in regard to activities at the nightclub
and inviting the menbers of the Council to make an inspection of the premises.
The communication was ordered filed.
