53
if the senile woman is not removed by her daughter within that time that'she
would be removed to the County Hospital and that no other patients of any sort
were to be received at the rest home._ Councilman Werder moved, seconded by
Councilman Britschgi, that the matter be placed on the agenda for the next
meeting. Under the question, City Attorney McCarthy explained that the daugh-
ter of the senile woman had requested him to secure additional time to move her
mother but that he had told her he believed it would-be impossible to do so.
Motion passed unanimously.
Communication addressed to the Mayor was read by the Clerk. The letter was-from..the
Navy Club...of the U.B.A. and requested permission to place on exhibit one of
their Mobile War Exhibits within the next thirty to ninetyl._c}ays. Councilman
Werder moved, seconded by.Councilman Granger, that the permit be ranted.
g p g
Councilman.Granger's second was contingent on whether the organization was a
i
bona fide organization as stated in the letter. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Granger recommended that the City Manager provide a location farther
from the heart of the city thanhas been used in the past for such exhibits.
Communication- was, received from Wayne R. Millington, attorney-at-law, advising that
on behalf of R. V. Grider and Rovert C. Treadwall, an.offer is made to the
city to compromise the matter.,relatiye. to Lot 7, Block 10, Lenolt, for the
sum. of $5,81.27. In addition, the above named men agree to pay, the real estate
agent, Mr. Hartsough, $100.00 in commission.. Mr. Millington has in his posses-
sion the check in the amount of $581.27 payable to the City of Redwood City
■ and upon approval of the City Council the.check will be paid to the title com-
® pany together with the sum of $832.20,delinquent taxes and those accruing to
1
June 30, 1947. This was the proposal set forth by the Council to settle this
matter and Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that
i
the offer be.accepted and the City Attorney be instructed to compromise the
settlement: Motion passed unanimously.
Communication was received from R. S. Dodge, City Clerk -Treasurer, with an attached
list prepared by Mrs. Miramontes representing delinquent taxes, delinquent
weed and delinquent bond assessments against lots in the recreation area deeded
by the County of San Mateo to the City of Redwood City and requesting transfer,
of the amounts shown to the various funds as listed in the letter_ City
Attorney McCarthy advised that the city acquired a tax title to the lots from
the state by a contract between the city and the county.. He recommended that
a quiet title suit be instituted to acquire complete title to this property
which consists of 32 lots, or approximately 2-1/2 acres. The suit to estab-
lish title to these lots would take approximately three months time. Council-
man Armstrong was of the opinion that the title should be secured before
money is transferred from the bond fund to pay the delinquencies. City Attor-
ney McCarthy.advised that in the event anyone could establish title to any of
the lots it would be necessary for thew to pay the delinquencies. If this
should occur, the city would than have the right to file a condemnation suit.
He advised that the matter could be laid on the table until a decree quieting
title to the lots has been secured to the recommendation of the. Treasurer
could be accepted. He explained that the Collector, Mrs. Miramontes, would
