He advised that the <br />tentative map had been approved by the Planning Commission. After study of the <br />map, Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, acceptance of <br />the final map of Stein Park. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Councilman Swift left the meeting. <br />Councilman Granger asked if there had been any information received from the Southern <br />Pacific in regard to gates at the Broadway crossing. City Manager Blom advised <br />that they had made a study of automatic gates and believed that it was imprac- <br />tical. It was believed that manually operated gates would be more satisfactory.II <br />City Manager Blom advised he would check further into the matter. <br />Councilman Granger asked if any answer had been had from the Health Department in <br />regard to revised restaurant ordinance. City Attorney McCarthy advised that <br />Mr. Fickhelsen of the Health Department was contacting various cities throughout <br />the county in regard to this matter. <br />Councilman Granger asked the City Manager to get a report on sewage problem at Ebner <br />and Poplar Streets and asked it be placed on the agenda. <br />Councilman Granger questioned a garage being located in the old Poole Warehouse. <br />City Manager Blom advised that there is nothing in the ordinance which prohibits <br />a garage in this structure. <br />Councilman McNulty questioned the broken sidewalk at Five Points. The contractor was <br />supposed to have fixed it but the City Engineer was to look into the matter. <br />Councilman Britschgi questioned whether Harold Sanders had had a permit to move a <br />house to Bayshore Highway and whether there was a sewer. The Building Inspector <br />was to check this matter. <br />Councilman Armstrong questioned why it was necessary to pay at this time for a <br />position bond from August 1, 1947 to August 1, 1945. City Manager Blom advised <br />that the insurance people had informed them that the only way the city could get <br />a discount on the bond was to renew it before the expiration date; 1. e., keep <br />the current year plus one year in advance. <br />City Manager Blom advised that the city has been asked to approve a prefabricated <br />type of house construction which is manufactured by the Lincoln Manufacturing <br />Company in Oakland.
