64 kro. <br />might arise. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Application for restaurant license was received from Rose Ungarettl and Shedo L. <br />Russo to conduct restaurant at Woodside Lodge on Woodside Road. Councilman <br />Britschgi moved the permit be granted subject to the approval of the Health <br />Department. City Manager Blom stated that in the future he would prefer to have <br />these applications submitted to the Health Department before being presented to <br />{--� <br />the Council. This was believed to be preferable and there was considerable <br />discussion as to whether the application in question should be granted at this <br />meeting or whether it should be held over to allow inspection by the Health <br />Department. Councilmen Britschgi and Werder were of the opinion that this <br />application should be granted in the usual manner inasmuch as there is nothing <br />on the application which states that an inspection must be obtained from the <br />Health Department and that the applicant had made application in good faith. <br />Councilman Granger believed that anyone starting a business should come to the <br />Council before opening the business. Councilman Werder seconded Councilman's <br />Britechgils motion which was amended to include inspection by other necessary <br />departments. Mayor pro tem Armstrong announced he was going to vote in the <br />j <br />negative for the reason that he believed the time to take a stand was when <br />i <br />the application is before the Council. A roll call vote was requested and <br />the following vote recorded: Ayes'and in favor of the motion: Councilmen <br />Britschgi, Werder and Swift. Noes and against the motion: Councilmen Granger, <br />McNulty and Mayor protem Armstrong. Absent: Mayor Hilton. The vote resulted <br />in the motion being lost and Ciouncllmarl Britschgi moved, seconded by Council- <br />mar, Swift, that the matter be referred to the City Manager for report. Motion <br />passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from Peninah N. Spence, Chief Price Clerk of the O.P.A. <br />expressing appreciation for the cooperation of the city offices and departments <br />during the time the O.P.A. was in operation. Mayor pro tem Armstrong expressed <br />; <br />appreciation on behalf of the Council for the service, rendered by this board <br />and ordered that the communication be filed. <br />Communication was received from the San Mateo County Tuberculosis and Health Asso- <br />•elation requesting donation for Christmas Seals. Councilman Granger moved, <br />seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the amount of $25.00 be subscribed to this <br />Association. Under the question, Councilman Granger suggested that the donation <br />for Christmas Seals be increased at the next budget -time. It was decided to <br />discuss this at the time the budget is being prepared. Motion passed unanimously. <br />u, <br />i <br />Communication was received from the Veterans' Hospital Christmas Committee requesting <br />I <br />donation for veterans' Christmas party. It was suggested by Mayor pro tem <br />' <br />Armstrong that the communication be referred to the Community Cheat who has a <br />S <br />fund for charities who are not agencies of the Chest and that the Coummunity <br />G <br />Chest be advised that the Council aGranger <br />approves such a donation. Councilman <br />I� <br />moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the communication be forwarded <br />to the Community Chest for allocation for their unbudgeted fund and that they <br />be informed that the Council approves such a request. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Redwood City Planning Commission recommending <br />favorable action on the request of Mr. P. Petrucci to subdivide Lot 149 Block 2, <br />
