HILTON <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City. <br />City Manager Blom advised that he had discussed with Mr. IngPrsoll,"attorney for <br />Conway and Culligan, the matter of the 'subdividers being unfavorable to annex- <br />ation.. Mr. Ingersoll expressed the opinion that if there was assurance given <br />them that lots facing on Middlefield Road would not be changed as to zoning they <br />might withdraw -their objection to the annexation: It was the opinion of the <br />Council that these lots should be left -in the zone in which they now are; I. e. <br />for business. Resident's of Redwood V111age'present expressed their desire haat <br />they also remain in the business zone. Councilman Granger moved, seconded by <br />Councilman Swift, that the Council does not plan to change the zoning afforded <br />the above mentioned area. by the County upon its annexation to the City of <br />Redwood City. Motion passed unanimously. <br />City Manager Blom reported that the complaint regarding sewage problem at Ebener and <br />Poplar Streets had been referred to the.Health Department. The owner of the <br />property has been given ten days to abate the nuisance. The matter was placed <br />on the agenda to see that the orders of the Health Department are complied with. <br />City Manager Blom repor.ted'that a permit had been obtained from the State to allow <br />excavation on E1 Camino Real to connecta sewer to the Viarenza property Mr. <br />Viarenza has had difficulty in getting a plumber to do the work. He has, how- <br />ever, been making every effort,,to comply with orders given him by city authorities. <br />The matter was carried on the agenda for the second meeting in January. <br />City Attorney McCarthy advised that Mr. Ernest Wilson had prepared another resolution <br />of intention to vacate an:Alley on Map of Broadway.No. 1, which called for posting <br />of notices, publishing of notices and time for hearing of protests. It was <br />believed this resolution had alregdy been passed but City Attorney McCarthy was <br />of the opinion that the Council may have lost jurisdiction and advised adopting <br />It again. Councilman McNulty offered resolution of intention to vacate an alley <br />on Map of Broadway No. 1, seconded by Councilman Britechgi. On roll call, <br />resolution was unanimously adopted with Mayor Hilton absent. <br />R E S 0 L U T I ON No. 412. <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO CLOSE CERTAIN ALLEYS ON BROADWAY.MAP NO. 1. <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City that the public interest <br />and convenience require, and that it is the intention of said Council to do and: <br />perform the following public improvement, to -wit; <br />Sec. 1. That those certain easements, highways, public streets, alleys, <br />ways and places located in the City of Redwood City, County of San Mateo, State <br />of California., described as: <br />The alley in Block 3 and the alley easterly of Beech Street and <br />northerly of Broadway, as shown on the Map of Broadway Map No.l, <br />be closed up and abandoned. <br />Sec. 2. That in the opinion of said'Council no assessment is necessary <br />for this proceeding. <br />Sec. 3. That said work and improvement is had and taken pursuant to the <br />provisions of Article II of that certain ordinance of the City of Redwood City, <br />numbered 333, and known as "Redwood City Improvement Pr6cedure Ordinance,° <br />adopted March 14, 1932, as amended. <br />See. 4. Notice is hereby given that Idonday, the 6th day of January, 1947; <br />at eight o'clock P.
