the matter of controlling the sale of Christmas trees within the city. It was his thought that <br />too many trees had been out this season and that by controlling the sale of them to local met - <br />chants it might reduce the number of trees cut. It was the opinion of some of the -councilmen that <br />this was a matter to be presented to the League of California Cities, however, it was decided to <br />place the matter on the agenda. , <br />Councilman Britsohgi moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the meeting be adjouned. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />RALPH S. bODGE City Clerk <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />REDYMOD CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 6, 1947 � <br />8:00 P. M. <br />On roll call the following were present: Councilmen C. C. Armstrong, Carl A. Britsohgi, Floyd D. Granger <br />George W. McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, William M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector L. M. <br />Duncan, Street Superintendent H. L. Winter, Acting City Engineer R. E. Pontow, Assessor and Auditor <br />John J. Brophy, and City Collector Paul E. Perrin. <br />Minutes of the regular meeting of December 16th and of the special meeting of December 26th, 1946, were <br />approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Werder. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Communication was received from Mr. R. L. Spangler, Vice -President of the Community Chest in regard to <br />communication referred to them by the Council from the Veterans, Hospital Chrestmas Committee. The <br />communication was received too late for action by the Chest and it was suggested that next year the <br />request for funds by this committee be referred to the city committee on solicitations. Councilman <br />Granger was of the opinion that the committee should be contacted to see if there was a deficit, <br />however, the majority of the Council was of the opinion that it was a matter for the Community Chest <br />to handle. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the communication <br />be filed: Motion passed with Councilman Granger voting in the negative. <br />Communication was received from Mrs. M. E. Ryan expressing appreciation for sympathy extended at the death <br />of former Fire Chief M. E. Ryan. Communication was ordered filed. <br />Communication was received from City Manager Blom submitting for approval the following appointments to <br />the Traffic and Safety Commission: Julia Anderson, Louis Be Dematteis, J. L. Flynn, Ur., Adin S. <br />Sinberly, ten Leese, Delbert Mitchell, W. P. Whaley, Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Council- <br />man Swift, that the City Managers recommendation be accepted. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from the Chemical Process Company advising that that company owns a ten acre 4 y <br />tract which is zoned as industrial property and which is directly adjacent to a proposed residen- <br />tial district. City Manager Blom advised that no application for rezoning had been received. <br />Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the City Clerk be instructed to <br />address a communication to the Chemical Process Company advising them that the Council has no in- <br />tention at the present time of rezoning the property adjacent to their property for residential <br />purposes. Under the question, it was suggested that the communication and a copy of the Clerk's <br />letter be forwarded to the Planning Commission. This suggestion was incorporated in the motion <br />which passed unanimously. <br />Communication was received from City Manager Blom advising that the Board of Review had recommended that <br />Mrs. Hazel Adams Richardson be granted an extension of one year in her employment as a librarian. <br />This action was necessary due to the fact that she is a married woman. The City Manager concurred <br />
