the matter of controlling the sale of Christmas trees within the city. It was his thought that too many trees had been out this season and that by controlling the sale of them to local met - chants it might reduce the number of trees cut. It was the opinion of some of the -councilmen that this was a matter to be presented to the League of California Cities, however, it was decided to place the matter on the agenda. , Councilman Britsohgi moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the meeting be adjouned. Motion passed unanimously. RALPH S. bODGE City Clerk MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING REDYMOD CITY COUNCIL JANUARY 6, 1947 � 8:00 P. M. On roll call the following were present: Councilmen C. C. Armstrong, Carl A. Britsohgi, Floyd D. Granger George W. McNulty, Arthur V. Swift, William M. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney Paul A. McCarthy, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Street Superintendent H. L. Winter, Acting City Engineer R. E. Pontow, Assessor and Auditor John J. Brophy, and City Collector Paul E. Perrin. Minutes of the regular meeting of December 16th and of the special meeting of December 26th, 1946, were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Armstrong, seconded by Councilman Werder. Motion passed unanimously. Communication was received from Mr. R. L. Spangler, Vice -President of the Community Chest in regard to communication referred to them by the Council from the Veterans, Hospital Chrestmas Committee. The communication was received too late for action by the Chest and it was suggested that next year the request for funds by this committee be referred to the city committee on solicitations. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that the committee should be contacted to see if there was a deficit, however, the majority of the Council was of the opinion that it was a matter for the Community Chest to handle. Councilman Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong, that the communication be filed: Motion passed with Councilman Granger voting in the negative. Communication was received from Mrs. M. E. Ryan expressing appreciation for sympathy extended at the death of former Fire Chief M. E. Ryan. Communication was ordered filed. Communication was received from City Manager Blom submitting for approval the following appointments to the Traffic and Safety Commission: Julia Anderson, Louis Be Dematteis, J. L. Flynn, Ur., Adin S. Sinberly, ten Leese, Delbert Mitchell, W. P. Whaley, Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Council- man Swift, that the City Managers recommendation be accepted. Motion passed unanimously. Communication was received from the Chemical Process Company advising that that company owns a ten acre 4 y tract which is zoned as industrial property and which is directly adjacent to a proposed residen- tial district. City Manager Blom advised that no application for rezoning had been received. Councilman Armstrong moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the City Clerk be instructed to address a communication to the Chemical Process Company advising them that the Council has no in- tention at the present time of rezoning the property adjacent to their property for residential purposes. Under the question, it was suggested that the communication and a copy of the Clerk's letter be forwarded to the Planning Commission. This suggestion was incorporated in the motion which passed unanimously. Communication was received from City Manager Blom advising that the Board of Review had recommended that Mrs. Hazel Adams Richardson be granted an extension of one year in her employment as a librarian. This action was necessary due to the fact that she is a married woman. The City Manager concurred
