DODGE
Clerk of the City of Redwood City
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
I hereby approve the foregoing Resolution
this 6th day of January, 1947.
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
City Manager Blom reported that he had been contacted by a Mr. Morrison who wished
to start a rubbish removal system within the city and had requested an agree-
ment or franchise from the city. He plans to make collections every two weeks
and charge approximately $1.00 a month for the service. Mr. Blom stated that
the city had a service which picked up rubbish on call but that it was over-
loading the present personnel. There was some discussion as to the method in
which the service would be rendered and to whom it would be available. City
Manager Blom advised that he believed the city should keep jurisdiction over
the matter as to the type of trucks used and the manner in which the rubbish
was to be picked up. Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Armstrong
that the matter be tabled until the next meeting for a further report from
the City Manager after further meeting with Mr. Morrison. Motion passed
unanimously.
City Manager Blom reported that Fire Station No. 2 needed repairs badly. The
majority of the floors will have to be replaced and the lower portion of the
studs replaced inasmuch as they are dry rotted. It was estimated that the
work would cost between $1000 and $2000. He waked from what fund the money
should be taken. Councilman Armstrong did not believe that the money should
be taken for repairs from the bond fund and, after some discussion, Councilman
Britschgi moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the City Manager be
authorized to proceed with the work of repairing the Fire Station No. 2 with
the cost to be taken from unbudgeted reserve. Motion passed unanimously.
X
City Manager Blom reported that condemnation proceedings have been filed on property
in the alley behind Main Street and the engineers, Wilsey and Broughton, and
the appraiser have begun work on the project.
il
