City Manager Blom reported that in the contract for the preparation of the Master
Plan no provision was made for the printing of copies of the report. Hahn and
Campbell have a machine on which they can reproduce the plan at an estimated
cost of 100 copies for $$400. Under the contract, approximately six copies will
be furnished to the city. The consensus of the Council was that it would not be
necessary to have the extra copies.
City Attorney McCarthy advised that in regard to the sale of Lot 71 Block 10, Lenolt,
' Mr. Weiner had deposited the money although it was not in the title company on the
date set by the Council - December 20. He asked authority to close the transaction.
i
Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the City Attorney
be instructed that the Council is willing to close the transaction inasmuch as all
stipulations were complied with. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Granger stated that in regard to improving the restaurant situation, Health
Inspector Fickheinsen had suggested that before a license is renewed the appli-
cant present the health certificate furnished by the Health Department through-
out the year. This suggestion was favorably received.
Councilman Granger asked for a report from the Fire Inspector so that a.report could
be made to the public.
Councilman Granger questioned the condition of the sidewalks after cuts are made in
them. City Manager Blom said that it was the fault of the city that they were
not re aired
p properly and that he would check the matter.
Councilman McNulty asked if any city employees were living outside of the city. City
Manager Blom advised there were two librarians who were living outside of the city
limits but that the personnel rules provide that they may do so if granted per-
mission by the Board of Review. This permission had been granted to them recently.
City Manager Blom reported that housing 1s still difficult and that there has
been difficulty in filling positions with people from within the city. Council-
! man Granger expressed the opinion that those employees residing outside of the
city should be informed that the Council has discussed the situation.
City Manager Blom reported that there was an application for restaurant license from
the new owner of the Two Friends Cafe to be known as Lola' Cafe. The applicant
had been cleared by the Police Department but there was still a small amount of'
work to be done to comply with the Health and Building Departments requirements.
Councilman Werder moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, that the permit be
granted subject to the usual restriction - one disturbance and the permit would
be revoked. Motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Werder questioned the fact that the ordinance regulating the height of
hedges was not being enforced. He was strongly of the opinion that this should
be done.
Mayor Hilton introduced the new City Collector, Paul E. Perrin.
Claims No. 677-749 in the amount of X15,772.94 were approved and ordered paid on
motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Werder. Motion passed
unanimously.
Councilman McNulty moved, seconded by Councilman Swift, that the meeting be adjourned
to 9:00 P. M., January 13, 1947, out of respect for the many years of service of
Mrs. Nelle L. Miramontes who retired from the service of the city as Collector
