DO( _ Cty Clerk <br />MINUTES OF ADJOURNED MEETING <br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br />January 13, 1947 <br />5:00 P.M. <br />On roll call, the following were present: Councilmen: C. C. Armstrong, Carl Britschgi, <br />Floyd Granger, George W. McNulty, William M. Werder; Mayor W. W. Hilton, and City <br />Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. W. Blom, City Attorney <br />Paul A. McCarthy, Police Chief C. L. Collins, Acting Engineer R. E. Pontow, and <br />Street Superintendent H. L. Winter. Absent: Councilman Arthur V. Swift. <br />City Clerk Dodge administered the oath of office to the newly appointed members of the <br />Traffic & Safety Commission. One Commissioner Delbert Mitchell was not present. <br />City Manager Blom asked the Commission to adjourn to a meeting to organize the <br />Commission. <br />Mayor Hilton announced there would be a Traffic and Safety meeting at the McKinley <br />School on January 24th, which was being sponsored by the Martin Transportation <br />Company. The public is welcome. <br />Petition for annexation of uninhabited territory consisting of 17 acres along Woodside <br />Road, was received from Oliver Johnson and his wife, as joint owners of more than <br />1/4 of the area. Mr. Johnson appeared and stated it was planned to build 101 <br />homes in the area and presented sketches of the proposed homes. The Council <br />generally was in favor of the petition. Councilman Britechgi moved, seconded <br />by Councilman Werder, adoption of resolution of intention to annex property to <br />be known as Atherwood and setting time for hearing of protests. On roll call <br />resolution was unanimously adopted with Councilman Swift absent. <br />R ESO L -U T ION No. 415 <br />GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED <br />TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, TO BE KNOWN AS ATHERWOOD. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of that certain Act of the Legislature <br />of the State of California, entitled "An act to provide for the alteration of <br />the boundaries of incorporated towns and cities by the annexation of uninhabited <br />territory thereto and for the incorporation of such annexed territory in and as <br />a part of such municipality, and for the districting, government and municipal <br />control of such annexed territory", approved May 29, 1939 (Stats of 1939, <br />Chaper 297, page 15b7), there was, on the 13th day of January, 1947, filed with <br />the Council of the City of Redwood City, a petition, in writing, requesting <br />that the uninhabited territory hereinafter described be annexed to, incorporated <br />and included in and made a part of said City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS the exterior boundaries of said territory are described in said <br />petition, and said territory is contiguous to the limits and boundary of said <br />City of Redwood City, and are particularly described as follows: <br />BEGINNING at the most Northerly corner of Block 1, as designated <br />on the map entitled 11MAP OF OAKLEIGH PARK TRACT SAN MATEO COUNTY CALIFOR- <br />NIA° which map was filed in the office of the Recorder of San Mateo County, <br />State of California, on April 60 1910, in Liber 7 of Maps at page 16; <br />thence from said point of beginning and running along the Easterly line <br />of the County Road from Redwood City to Woodside, North 220 3b! East 442.00 <br />feet and North 100 051 3011 East 305.00 feet; thence leaving said Easterly <br />line and running along a line parallel with and distant at right angles <br />Northeasterly 651.09 feet from the Northeasterly line of the aforementioned <br />Block 1, South 450 291 East 1260.b4 feet; thence South 410 31' West'b51.09 <br />feet to the Northeasterly line of said Block'1; thence along said North- <br />easterly line North 450 20' West 95b.99 feet to the point of beginning. <br />CONTAINING 17 acres, more or less. <br />WHEREAS the Council of the City of Redwood City does hereby determine and <br />declare that said petition is signed by the owners of not less than one-fourth <br />(1/4) of the area of the land described in said petition, and the owners of <br />said land represent not less than one-fourth (1/4) of the assessed value of such <br />territory as described in said petition, according to the last preceding <br />equalized assessment roll of the County of San Mateo, said County being the <br />L <br />M <br />
