A RMSTRONG, BRITSCHGI; GRANGER,
McNULTY, WERDER and Mayor HILTON.
NOES,'Councilmen: NONE
ABSENT: Councilmen: SWIFT.
C
APPROVED:
RALPH S. DODGE,
City Clerk of the City.of Redwood City
W. W. HILTON
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
Councilman Granger commented on the pictures which had appeared in the Tribune and -asked
about the condition of Rogers Street. County Supervisor Edmonds appeared in this
connection and protested the appearance of the street. City Manager Blom advised
that the owner was filling in some of his property but that the City would see that
no more material was hauled in and that the City would level the street. Council-
man,Granger moved, seconded by Councilman McNulty, that the City Council instruct
the City Manager to inform the property owners who are dumping at this location to
stop doing so and that the City requires that the property be leveled. Motion
passed unanimously.
Councilman Britschgi asked if it would be possible to get flood gates in the property
to be acquired for the sewage disposal plant to prevent water from flowing in
Redwood Creek. City Manager Blom was doubtful if this could be done.
Councilman Granger asked the status of the condemnation proceedings on the proposed
street and parking area between Main Street and Jefferson Avenue. City Attorney
advised that a complaint has been prepared but he was waiting for the exact amount
of land to be condemned before filing it. City.Manager Blom advised that the
Engineers, Wilsey, Broughton and Longson, were working on the plans and he expected
to have the plans showing the lines for the width of the street and parking area
and rough estimate of the cost within a short time.
Supervisor Edmonds appeared and requested that the City participate 50-50 with the
County on rental for office space for the State Employment office. They are now
in the old 0. P. A. office and must move. Due to the fact that most of the people
using this service are from Redwood City, the Board felt the City should contri-
bute. The Council was in favor of doing so and Councilman Armstrong moved, second-
ed by Councilman -Granger, that the City Council agree with the Board of Supervis-
ors that they will share the rent of the State Employment Office on a 50-50 basis
not to exceed $50 per month, $25.00 city share, for a period not to exceed the
calendar year 1947. Motion passed unanimously.
City Attorney McCarthy advised that the Baird condemnation suit was settled by the jury
for $2,000 an acre and that unless the Council had other instructions, he recom-
mended the verdict be accepted. There were no other instructions.
Claims No. 753, 755 and 757, in the amount of $12, 799.05, were approved and ordered
paid on motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Motion
passed unanimously.
Adjournment.
City Clerk
93
