APPOINTMENT TO PERSONNEL BOARD. Councilman•Swift,moved this be carried on the agenda, 99l <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />TRAFFIC AND SAFETY COMMISSION. A report on this and the Fact Finding Committee by City <br />Manager Rolison was submitted in accordance with the,Council's request on December <br />20th, 1948. A study was made of the functions of the recently established Traffic <br />Fact Finding Committee, as compared with the Traffic and Safety Commission. The <br />ii <br />I; Traffic and: Safety Commission consisted of a group of public,spirited citizens, they <br />met once a month and major traffic problems and matters of policy were considered. <br />�a <br />The Fact Finding Committee was composed of City Employees who had practical training <br />and were qualified to make technical studies of problems which came to their attention. <br />This committee met once a week. A detailed report had been prepared by Administrative <br />Assistant Miller. Councilman Morgan moved that copies of the report be forwarded to <br />each member of the Fact Finding Committee, Traffic and Safety Commission and members <br />of the City Council, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />PROPOSED STORAGE LANES ON BROADWAY AND EL CAMINO REAL. City Manager Rolison took this up <br />with the Traffic and,Safety Commission. They were in accord, City Engineer Jain was <br />consulted. Highway Commission was to be contacted in regards to financing the cost. <br />Traffic and Safety Commission would report to Council; City Engineer Jain would try <br />to have a report for the next meeting. Councilman Morgan moved that this be carried <br />on the agenda to the.first meeting.in February, seconded by Councilman Swift. <br />Motion carried. <br />PROPOSED STORAGE BUILDING FOR THE PARK DEPARTMENT'S EQUIPMENT. City Manager Rolison <br />stated this had been discussed with Councilmen Spillers and Britschgi, The commit- <br />tee on this and the Councilmen were both in accord in regards to this building. <br />As both Councilmen were absent, Councilman Morgan, moved that this be carried on the <br />'! <br />agenda, seconded by Councilman Swift., Motion carried. <br />FILL FOR CULVERT BETWEEN POOLE TRANSFER AND ROBINSON PROPERTY, MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. City <br />Engineer Jain reported that the contractor for the Telephone Company had offered <br />the City several hundred yards of dirt, which was on Miss Offermann's property, if <br />it could be hauled away very soon as they needed more space to stock their materials. <br />{ <br />Councilman Morgan moved that the dirt be accepted an moved to City property, seconded <br />by Councilman Swift. City Engineer Jain was to start work on moving the dirt as <br />l' <br />soon as possible. Motion carried. <br />i <br />REPORT ON DISASTER RELIEF COMMITTEE, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT MILLER. Before starting <br />jlon <br />recruiting City Personnel, it was necessary to wait to find out what form the <br />i <br />entire organization was going to take. Councilman Morgan moved this be carried on <br />I <br />ithe <br />agenda for further report, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. Under the question <br />Councilman Granger thought all departments should be contacted to discern what <br />each could contribute, which was the,intent of the Council. Motion carried. <br />li <br />PROPERTY ON ARGUELLO BETWEEN BREWSTER AND FULLER STREETS. In regards to the possibility <br />.. <br />of owners applying for tax exemption on this property which had been a Sister's <br />! <br />home, City Attorney Currie advised no action could be taken to endeavor to stop <br />such filing of a possible request. Councilman Morgan moved that the matter be <br />II <br />dropped from the agenda, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />`,• <br />SIDEWALKS INSTALLED BY TELEPHONE COMPANY ON 14IDDLEFIELD ROAD.
