106 Councilman Britschgi left the meeting, 10:30 P.M. <br />SPEED LIMITS AND LOAD LIMITS DERE DISCUSSED. Original motion was withdrawn by the maker, <br />with the consent of the second. Councilman Morgan moved that a meeting by called <br />by City Manager Rolison the following Monday night, January 24th, of Pacific Portland <br />Cement Company, Permanente Cement Company, Standard Oil Company, Richfield Oil Company, <br />California Trucking Service, Port Commission, Captain Grant, County Engineer, and the <br />report to be brought back at the nest Council meeting in three weeks. Motion <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />FINANCIAL REPORT ON DEPARTMENTS WHICH HAD EXCEEDED BUDGET ALLOWANCE. The report was <br />submitted by City Manager Rolison. It was explained that at the end of the budget <br />year other departments which had not used all of their budget allowance would tend <br />to offset deficit. No action was taken at this time as the Council wished to <br />study the report until the next meeting. <br />MRS. HELEN MEYERS, 644 Topaz Street, appeared in regards to street lights. City Manager <br />Rolison explained they were trying to get poles and Fire Chief Lodi stated that a <br />letter be written to the P.G. & E. stating need of lights,on Topaz and in the . <br />Lenolt Tract, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />f <br />ANNA PRIED14AN APPEARED, TO -REQUEST A PERMIT TO CONDUCT AN ANTIQUE SHOP IN A GARAGE AT <br />36 Laurel Street, having been denied a permit at previous meeting although this <br />district was zoned for Commercial. It was decided that Councilman Holmquist and <br />i <br />Councilman Spillers would investigate and report back at the next meeting. <br />ANNIE OFFEIUTANN APPEARED AND STATED THE SIDEWALKS INSTALLED BY THE TELEPHONE COMPANY ON I <br />i <br />Middlefield Road had developed cracks and in one spot had sunk. City Engineer Jain <br />had been out there and the contractor was going to take care of the sunken part, i <br />but he could not be held responsible for the cracks due to shifting of the adobe <br />soil. <br />SEWER RENTALS; Temporarily unoccupied dwellings that retain water service. City Manager <br />Rolison reported on this after City Auditor Brophy had prepared and submitted a <br />statement that out of 7000 water consumers to determine the number of unoccupied <br />premises each month prior to billing, would be impractical and costs of enforcement <br />would be prohibitive as this would require constant individual inspection. Coun- <br />cilman Morgan moved that the report be accepted, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. <br />As Miss Offermann had appealed for exemption from sewer rental charges of unoccupied <br />3 <br />dwellings, Councilman Holmquist suggested she have water disconnected if she did not <br />wish to pay sewer rental charge as the Fire Department would be called in the event j <br />Ei <br />of fire. f� <br />ANNEXATION OF FRANK PROPERTY, WOODSIDE ROAD. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed <br />on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />City Attorney Currie stated petitioners had not signed an agreement to assume the <br />i <br />bonded indebtedness. <br />ORDINANCE, ANNEXATION OF FRANK PROPERTY, WOODSIDE ROAD, was introduced on motion of <br />Councilman Spillers, but was not to be published until an agreement was signed to IIk���JJJ <br />assume bonded indebtedness had been signed, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and <br />carried. <br />FRED J.
