It was explained that as <br />soon as the matter of salary increases were decided upon such breakdown would be <br />prepared and the publicwould be informed as to how the City's tax money was being <br />spent either in the form of an annual report or other means. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER CALLED ATTENTION TO AN ARTICLE IN THE LOCAL PAPER REGARDING AMUSE- <br />MENT MACHINES WHEREIN IT WAS STATED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL WAS RESPONSIBLE -FOR CARRj€- <br />ING OUT THE CONDITIONS OF THE ORDINANCE. He stated that he believed the article in <br />the paper should be claridied and the people be informed as to where responsibility <br />lies. City Attorney Currie was asked to prepare such a statement for the news- <br />paper. <br />Councilman Granger also objected to a recent statement in the papers regarding the <br />use of office facilities by individuals. It was explained that the addressograph <br />was used only for such agencies as the Community Chest, Red Cross,• etc., and it was <br />decided hereafter that any request for the use of this equipment should be cleared <br />through the Council. Councilman Granger objected to the City officials making in- <br />correct statements to the press. City Clerk Dodge reported that the Community Chest <br />had asked permission to have envelopes addressed for the forthcoming drive for funds <br />This was authorized on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Holmquist <br />and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST DISCUSSED THE MATTER OF TAX DELINQUENT LOTS ON KING STREET NEAR THE <br />ENTRANCE TO COMMUNITY PARK, LOTS 100 11, and 12, Block 2, amended map of the Oaks <br />Resub. of Lot 11, W. W. & M. Subdivision. He stated that the City should hold on <br />to these lots as they could be added to the Community Park area and used for entrance <br />purposes at a later date. Motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan, that City Collector will be notified not to sell these lots. Also he is <br />to inform the County Collector that the lots should not be offered for sale. <br />Motion carried. <br />Councilman Holmquist discussed the matter of tearing down the old Robinson house <br />stating that in his opinion this should be done at once. City Manager Rolison <br />authorized calling for bids for razing of this building on motion of Councilman <br />Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Granger, Mr. H. Robinson to be notified to remove <br />certain items which were listed when negotiations were under way for the purchase <br />of the property. Motion carried. <br />REV. MARGARET ROEDE14A APPEARED BEFORE THE COUNCIL REQUESTING PERMISSION TO HOLD A <br />REVIVAL MEETING IN A TENT TO .BE ERECTED ON THE S W Corner of Avondale and El <br />Camino Real. She stated the owner of the lot was donating the use of the lot for <br />the two week period.. Also, she had contacted the neighbors, Mrs. Cooney and Mrs. <br />Sabel and they had no objections to the revival meetings which were to be held for <br />two weeks, Monday through Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. No night meetings <br />were to be held on Saturday or Sunday. After considerable discussion permission <br />was granted on motion of Councilman Swift, seconded by Councilman Granger. Motion <br />carried. <br />MR. M. C. McCLENEHAN OPERATOR OF GARDEN MOTEL ON BROADWAY STATED THAT HE.HAD APPEARED <br />BEFORE THE PLANNING OOMf4ISSION AND was denied a use permit to erect an 8 x 16 <br />directional sign along Bayshore. He stated that the Planning Commission would not <br />allow a sign of this size, nowever, they decided upon a directional 5 x 10 and <br />advised him to appear before the Council for their approval.
