The claim was denied but <br />aj <br />was to be forwarded immediately to the insurance carrier on motion'of Councilman <br />Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />'PACIFIC TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COMPANY FILED A CLAIM AGAINST THE CITY IN ESTIMATED AMOUNT <br />of 075.00 for the cost of repairing the Company's cable and conduit located at the <br />southwest corner of Broadway'& Jefferson Street, 100 feet south of manhole No. 212. <br />Alleged damage occurred on January 4, 1949, 2:00 P.M. when the cable and wooden <br />conduit were allegedly cut by a hand axe being used by George Vasquez in connection <br />with placing of the new sewer line for J. C. Penney Company. The itemized bill will <br />be forwarded to supplement 'the claim when received. The claim was denied and re- <br />ferred to the insurance carrier on motion.of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Council- <br />man Spillers, and carried. <br />f <br />CANCER PREVENTION SOCIETY SUBMITTED application for permit to solicit funds in Redwood <br />City by mail, radio, press and personal solicitation. On motion of Councilman <br />Granger this was referred to the Community Cheat for their recommendation, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />AUDITOR BROPHY ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO CORRECT 1948-49 Tax Roll, deducting on three <br />i accounts in the total amount of #23.55• Councilman Britschgi moved approval of <br />corrections, seconded*by Councilman' Spillers, and carried. <br />ST. PETERS CHURCH, BREWSTER AT CLINTON STREETS, requested permission to erect directional <br />sign 'on El Camino Real. Councilman Morgan moved this be approved subject to the <br />City Manager's recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION,RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF REVISED PETITION OF A. Nucetelli to Resub- <br />divide portions of lots 11 and 120 Block 8, New High School Acres per attached sketch: <br />2 lots 63.50' x 100' and 1 lot 50' x 127.901. January 41fh Planning Commission had <br />disapproved subdivision of these lots, but the applicant had changed his plan, and <br />they now approved. Councilman Britschgi moved acceptance of recommendation, seconded- <br />by <br />econded <br />by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />BROADWAY No. 3. 'EXTENSION PROJECT. Communication from Kirkbride, Wilson, Sutton, <br />Harzfeld & Wallace stated this project had been reviewed with City Engineer Jain, <br />�J and noted changes recommended by him. When the proposed work had been agreed upon <br />J they would prepare and present to the City the necessary papers to proceed with the <br />improvement. They also recommended that work be done under The Improvement Act of <br />1911 and that bonds be issued thereunder in accordance with'the present Improvement <br />Procedure Ordinance. City Attorney Currie suggested this be carried on the agenda <br />J so that action would be taken on it. City Engineer Jain concurred this be done under <br />1911 Act; stating that due to rush of work they could not handle this project and <br />suggested that the engineer who originally'prepared the plane, make additional cor- <br />rections and specifications to carry through and'he would work with him. He stated <br />there would be additional charges as they had been paid for the original job only. <br />It was moved by Councilman Granger that the City Engineer and City Attorney report <br />at the nest regular meeting on this after discussing the project with Frost & Brian, <br />
