LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES ASKED that the Council: review the present salary scale and i17 <br />allow them to raise the present minimum figure of $215 to $231 for beginning salary <br />of Junior Librarians. Councilman Morgan moved this be referred to the Personnel <br />Board, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and: carried. <br />MR. JOHN E. CASTAGNETTO, Attorney, 2511 Mission Street, appeared for Mr. Sam Garcia, <br />owner of Lot 16,. Block 2, Redwood Terrace No. 1 for water service connection. As <br />1�1 <br />this was the aubdivider's obligation to furnish water and the City Attorney thought <br />the Council had prerogative of making own interpretation of rules and regulations, <br />this was placed on the agenda until the next meeting, on motion of Councilman Morgan, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />MR. REX BENHAM APPEARED AND QUESTIONED THE POLICY of the redemption of the Port Bonds. <br />After some discussion Councilman Morgan moved, deconded by CouncilmanGrangerthat <br />s <br />the matter be taken under advisement, City Attorney Currie to bring in recommendation <br />at a later meeting. <br />SELF -SERV GAS STATIONS. Harrison Call appeared, however, Councilman Spillers moved that <br />the committee be given an opportunity to report on this, Chairman Swift of the com- <br />mittee had not been able to stay and give a report, and that it be carried on the <br />agenda, .seconded by Councilman Morgan. Mr. Call stated he had a number of ordi- <br />nances passed in other cities which he would send to Mr. Currie if he wished. Mr. <br />Currie accepted the offer. <br />TEEN-AGE CENTER BILLS WERE APPROVED FOR PAYMENT IN THE"AMOUNT OF $119.95 on motion of <br />Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. The bills had <br />been approved by Auditor Brophy. <br />UNITED VETERANS CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL wished permission to build a ramp in front of the <br />Veteran Hall for the wheel chair veterans. It was moved by Councilman Granger," <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers, that the permit be granted, with Building Inspec- <br />for Duncan's approval as to specifications, and carried. <br />UNITED VETERANS CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL requested permission'to board up windows on the <br />porch of the Veteran's building, Warren and Standish Streets, as they were con- <br />stantly being broken by children playing ball and it was too expensive to replace <br />the glass. Councilman Granger moved this be referred to the City Manager for ways <br />and means and if the work could be done, to notify the Veterans Council, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />JUDSON W. MAK REQUESTED THAT OAK STREET, the only street leading into Reese Street, was <br />�j impassable and there were 10 houses on Reese which were virtually without fire <br />ill protection. Councilman Morgan moved this be ref erred"to the City Engineer for <br />tel! further report to be brought back at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Spillers, <br />and carried. <br />LAND DEVELOPMENT COMPANY SUBMITTED A LETTER dated February 4th, requesting permission to <br />�I drop curb for 110 feet in lieu of City Engineer Jain's recommendation of two drive- <br />ways-of <br />rive- <br />waysof 23 feet width, as this was located in the Industrial Section. <br />ON FEBRUARY let, a letter from the Traffic and Safety Commission, in reply to City <br />Engineer Jain's request for recommendation as to commercial driveways, recommended <br />that (1) Driveway widths be restricted to the standard double commercial widths of <br />23 feet clearance between end ramps, and (2) One or more multiples of 20 feet curb <br />lengths be required to be left between driveways, and (3) Not more than two such <br />
