The Traffic and Safety Commission and The <br />Traffic Study Committee concur in the Engineering Department's recommendation. j <br />Councilman Granger moved this be carried on the agenda, Council to study and look <br />over the building area, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED THAT THE COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE INSTALLATION <br />OF CYCLONE FENCING IN THE OUTFIELD, along Oak Avenue,and right field line, <br />$453, in Hawes Park. It was moved by Councilman Spillers that a request be granted <br />and that City Manager Rolison be authorized to call for bids, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi, and carried. Expenditure was to be made from bond money. Y <br />VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS PROTESTED INSTALLATION OF TRANSITE PIPE BY 14. J. KING COMPANY. <br />i <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the letter be filed, seconded by Councilman Morgan. <br />• f <br />Mr. Louis Weiss objected to passing over this and thought the previous action of z <br />the Council should be reconsidered, and felt that transite pipe was unsuitable to <br />this area and that the saving to the subdivider would have to be made up later by <br />the City in maintenance. He suggested the U. S. Bureau of Standards be consulted. <br />Further discussion revealed that those in favor of the cast iron pipe and voted in <br />favor of it, were also willing to abide by the decision of the majority of votes <br />cast for transits pipe. Mr. P. C. Kirk, Post Commander also appeared, and suggested <br />that they take test results of the American Laboratories. Mr. Rex Benham suggested <br />checking with the Underwriter's Laboratory. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that a comittee be appointed to make such a test in the, <br />near future on transite and cast iron pipe, seconded by Councilman Morgan. It was <br />understood the previous decision of the Council relative to Woodside Terrace No. 1 <br />was final. Tests were for future consideration in the event transite should be <br />installed. Motion carried. <br />PETITIONS FROM AMERICAN LEGION POST No. 105, presented to the Park and Recreation Com- <br />mission were submitted to the Council requesting that Stafford Park, until the <br />Master Plan might be carried out, shall remain as recreational area, with no batted <br />hard balls allowed, and no activities allowed within 25 feet of the northern boun- <br />dary of the park. The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and citizens <br />residing in the vicinity requested playground facilities and benches for this area <br />in line with the plan submitted by William Mott which was approved by the City <br />Council several months ago. Park and Recreation Commission endorsed the petitions <br />submitted. Councilman Britaehgi moved that City Manager Rolison make a study of <br />necessary equipment and report back at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan, and carried. <br />REQUESTED PERMIT TO CONDUCT AN ANTIQUE SHOP, ANNA FRIEDMAN$ 36 Laurel Street, Councilman <br />1 <br />Spillers reported that the committee investigated an old building which Mrs. <br />Friedman wished to use for a shop, stated she had a few items to sell, and recom- <br />mended that the permit be denied.
