12.0 <br />that four Cpuncilmen had been out -to the Community Center to review the proposed <br />location for this building. Councilman Britschgi moved that,City Manager Rolison <br />be instructed to proceed with the building in accordance with the plans_ as set up <br />at the location decided upon, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />RESPONSIBILITY OF REMOVAL OF TREES, ROOTS BLOCKING SEWERS. City Attorney Currie reported <br />that he found nothing in the Chapter to govern this situation. After discussion <br />Councilman Granger moved that this be temporarily dropped from the agenda, seconded <br />by Councilman Britschgi. Motion carried. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, PAUL CESARE, TWO TAXICAB PERMITS. Councilman Britschgi moved that <br />affidavit of publication be filed, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried: City <br />Attorney Currie stated the public hearing was to determine whether additional permits <br />should be granted and if a public convenience and necessity.- Councilman Morgan <br />moved this be referred to a committee of two Council members appointed by the Mayor <br />to act with the Chief of Police and City Manager�to determine if applicant complies <br />with requirements set forth in ordinance, a report to be made at the next meeting <br />if possible. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. (Mayor Werder <br />later appointed Councilman Morgan, Chairman, and Councilman Swift.) <br />CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE reported on collectable fees for signs under sign ordinate. Coun- <br />cilman Britschgi moved this be placed -on agenda, seconded by Councilman Spillers, <br />and carried. <br />STREET (BUS) BENCHES. City Manager Rolison submitted report. including Councilman Morgan's <br />report of 42 bus benches, locations for the Council's consideration, none to be <br />placed in residential area unless residents petitioned for them. The planning <br />commission and Traffic. and Safety Division approved the scheme in general. Council- <br />man Spillers moved acceptance, of City Manager Rolison's recommendation, City Attorney <br />Currie authorized to enter into contract on franchise, agent to furnish necessary <br />insurance, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />ADDITIONAL FIRE HYDRANTS FOR FRIENDLY ACRES. City Manager Rolison submitted report after <br />study had been made by the Fire Chief and Water Superintendent and stated on advice <br />by State Public Utilities Commission that the Friendly Acres Water Company, owned <br />by Mr. Clyde Henry, had a rate schedule on file which would entitle the City to <br />demand the installation of fire hydrants by this company on a rental basis. Subject <br />to Council 's'approval attached letter was addressed to the Friendly Acres Water <br />Company requesting this service, as the City would not be justified in making the <br />necessary capital expenditure to make these installations, at an estimated cost <br />between 06000 and $7000. Councilman Granger moved that City proceed along the line <br />of the City Manager's letter to have hydrants installed, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers, and carried. <br />BID SUBMITTED TO DISMANTLE BUILDING, 2063 Broadway, By E. M. Dyal,• and E. P. Omernik, <br />City to pay them $165, Councilman Morgan moved the bid be rejected, seconded by <br />Councilman Spillers. On recommendation of City Engineer Jain and Building Inspector <br />Duncan that this was a worth while bid as piling must be out off, motion was with- <br />drawn by the maker with the consent of the second. Councilman Granger moved that <br />the.City accept the bid; the contractor to put up necessary bond and insurance, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried, Councilman Britschgi voting Nay. <br />ABATEMENT, POOLE PROPERTY, JEFFERSON AVENUE, Abraham George Frank and Betsy Frank, <br />90 Cedro Way, San Francisco.
