City Engineer Jain reported the State Highway <br />i <br />was preparing plans for modernization and sychronization of traffic signals along <br />i <br />E1 Camino Real between Whipple Avenue and Woodside Road. The Traffic & Safety Com - <br />ti <br />mission and Traffic & Safety Division had recommended left-hand storage lanes and <br />f <br />traffic pedestrian islands at El Camino Real and Broadway, street would be widened <br />to provide for islands and curb parking would be eliminated along E1 Camino Real. <br />Reconstruction of storage lanes would amount to approximately $10,000 and he recom- <br />mended authorization to set up a Gas Tax Project to cover this work in the amount <br />of $10,000, the funds to be, budgeted from`the 1949-50 Gas Tax Allocation, and in- <br />struction to request the State Highway Department to provide for this installation <br />in their plans for the re-signalization. 4ouncilman Granger moved that City <br />Engineer Jain be authorized to enter into the agreement requested,. the agreement to <br />include lighting also, State co-operating half -way,, overhead wires to be eliminated <br />and cables laid, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />WIDENING OF JEFFERSON AVENUE AND ALAMEDA DE LAS PULGAS,'from Jefferson to Vera, Kensing- <br />ton Square Improvement District. City Engineer Jain submitted a request for author - <br />i; <br />fs <br />ization to proceed on contemplated plans and specifications in order to complete <br />;, <br />construction on this prgject. It was decided to go around a grocery store. If he <br />wished to remodel at any time the store would have to be moved to the established <br />(' <br />setback lines. Jain, City Engineer <br />i <br />SUBJECT: KENSINGTON SQUARE (South) <br />If we are to proceed with the widening of Jefferson Avenue and Alameda de las <br />Pulgas in the Kensington Square Improvement District, as contemplated by the estab- <br />lishment of Official Plan Lines, and in order to get these plans and specifications <br />I�t <br />completed for early construction, the following should be done at once: <br />I <br />(1) Authorize the expenditure of not to exceed $2500.00 for title reports and <br />�i <br />title policies on approximately eight -five parcels of land for widening Jefferson <br />Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas. <br />8 <br />
