On -motion of Councilman <br />12 of Counef1man-Spillers, seconded by-Councilman-Swift,=,and carried. -•City -•Collector <br />Perrin explained Mrs. Tepfer had closed her business after a very short period and <br />was badly in need of the amount specified to clear certain personal obligations. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM REDWOOD CITY WOMAN'S CLUB requesting action by the City to remove tree <br />cuttings, leaves, etc., from the City streets was ordered filed on motion of Council- <br />a <br />man Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Morgans and carried. <br />t' <br />of pavement, width of sidewalks, transits water pipe instead of cast iron pipe and <br />f <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO REZONE LOTS <br />�f <br />.19 and 20, Block 36, Central Park No. 2. Mr. W. C. Goodman appeared to oppose this <br />s <br />rezoning stating that the property owners in the area would wish to keep same in the <br />{ <br />R-1 Single Family classification. On motion of Councilman Swift, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Britschgi, City Attorney Currie will prepare amendment to the Zoning Ordinance,, <br />and a date for public hearing will be set. Motion carried. <br />i <br />REQUEST FOR PERMIT TO CONDUCT USED CAR LOT AT CORNER OF OAKWOOD DRIVE AND EL CAMINO REAL <br />.received from Mr. H. H. Ralstin. Application is in order as covered by Ordinance <br />f <br />No- 593, and check in amount of'0400.00 was attached. On motion of Councilman . <br />Spillers, seconded by Councilman Swift, application was accepted and Clerk Dodge was <br />directed to prepare the usual advertisements for the Tribune setting date for public <br />�. <br />hearing. On -motion of Councilman <br />Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Morgan, plans and specifications were approved and <br />City Manager Rolison was authorized to advertise for bids. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM M. J. King, Inc., requesting that certain standards required <br />in City specifications for subdivisions be relaxed, specifically mentioning type <br />of pavement, width of sidewalks, transits water pipe instead of cast iron pipe and <br />spacing of electroliers.• Mr. Lusk, representing the subdivider, spoke on the sub- <br />ject quoting certain figures to show that cost per lot is becoming prohibitive and <br />making -it impossible for them to meet the requirements of the Veterans Administra- <br />tion in order to secure G. I. financing. City Manager Rolison spoke against relaxing <br />in City standards as did several Councilmen present. After considerable discussion, <br />Councilman Morgan moved denial of the request, seconded by Councilman Spillers. <br />Motion carried. Mr. Lusk spoke further to the Council stating that unless they <br />could get some relief, they would be forced to withdraw from the area. City Engineer <br />Jain stated a policy should be established as there will be many more lots in this <br />area. In response to questioning of Mayor Werder, as to whether subject could be <br />checked into further and a report back to the Council at a later date, it was de- <br />�. <br />cided that Mr. Lusk would meet with City Manager Rolison and City Engineer Jain <br />and go into the matter fully, to report back to the Council when ready. <br />PETITION AGAINST LOCATION OF THE STATE ARMORY BUILDING was read by City Clerk Dodge. <br />Some 38 residents of the area object on the grounds that the area is a residential <br />section, that the armory would cause a parking congestion and would create noises <br />and disturbance. Communication was ordered filed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />COMMUNICATION OF CORPORATION YARD EMPLOYEES WAS READ, also a part of a communication <br />T <br />from members of the Fire Department relative to salary survey and merit plan sub- <br />mitted by L. J. Kroeger & Associates. It was decided that an adjourned meeting be <br />
