This building was not specified in the 1944 bond issur, but <br />in the opinion of City Auditor Brophy, funds for related improvements in the Com- <br />munity Park might be used for that purpose. The building would be.located on Lots <br />25,'263 27;. and,28, Block 42, Central Park No. 2, on St. Francis Street between <br />Madison and Vera Avenues. Councilman Granger moved that the Council approve recom- <br />mendation of the Park and Recreation Commission as set forth by the City Manager, <br />with City Attorney's approval if legal to proceed, and that the City Manager ad- <br />vertise for bids. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried, Councilman <br />Spillers voting Nay, as he felt tennis courts and swimming pool should have the <br />preference. <br />ORDINANCE CALLING SPECIAL ELECTION FOR PROPOSING BONDED INDEBTEDNESS FOR A SEWAGE DIS- <br />POSAL PLANT. Councilman Holmquist moved that affidavit of publication be filed, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />ABATEMENT BEEGER TANNERY, LATHROP AND ELM STREETS. Building Inspector Duncan reported <br />the building had not been removed. Councilman Granger moved that this be carried <br />on the agenda and Mr. Beeger to be notified and asked to report to the Council at <br />the next meeting on the status of proceedings, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and <br />carried. <br />ABATEMENT PERRY PROPERTY, 858-860 Main Street. Building Inspector Duncan reported the <br />barber shop had moved and these buildings could come down. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved this be duly and regularly continued, seconded by Councilman Granger, and• <br />carried. <br />ABATEMENT FRANK PROPERTY, Jefferson Avenue, (Old Property). Mayor Werder stated arrange- <br />ments had been made to wreck these buildings. Councilman Morgan moved this be duly <br />and regularly carried on the agenda, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />FRED J. EARLY PROGRESS ESTIMATE, SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT. As the estimate was not at <br />hand, this was approved subject to availability of funds on motion of Councilman <br />Spillers, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />L. C. SMITH PROGRESS ESTIMATE, REDWOOD TERRACE No. 1. Councilman Spillers moved approval <br />of payment subject to money being available, and approval of City Engineer Jain, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF DEEDS FOR STREET WIDENING IN SOUTH KENSINGTON SQUARE. City Attorney Currie <br />stated as there would be SO deed he had prepared a resolution authorizing City Clerk <br />Dodge to accept on behalf of the City all deeds and grants to the City of Redwood <br />City in Kensington Square. Where no money would be involved deeds would be ac- <br />cepted automatically. Councilman Holmquist offered resolution and moved adoption, <br />seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION No. 678 <br />AUTHORIZING CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT GRANTS OR DEEDS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY <br />WHEREAS, section 27281 of the Government Code of the State of California <br />requires that deeds or grants conveying an interest in real property to political <br />corporations must be accepted by the Grantee prior to being recorded; and <br />WHEREAS SAID SECTION 27281 provides a method whereby an officer or agent may <br />be designated by the political corporation to accept such deeds on its behalf; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED that RALPH S.
