Councilman Swift stated an attempt had been made to get the com- <br />mittee together, that they will meet next Friday when Mr.. Harrison Call would be <br />there, and hoped to have a report for the next meeting. Placed onwthe agenda. <br />REQUEST FOR TAXI PERMIT, PAUL CESARE. Councilman Morgan reported that the committee had <br />voted three to one against granting of permit. The Council decided to study this <br />further at the meeting on Monday, March 29th. Mr. Millington appeared on behalf of <br />Mr. Cesare stating that he had met all the requirements of the ordinance. He was <br />invited to attend the meeting the following Monday evening, and City Clerk Dodge was <br />to notify those interested to appear at the study meeting. Councilman Morgan re- <br />ported that in considering the request, necessity for public transportation was <br />considered. <br />REPORT ON STA14BAUGH STREET AREA. City Engineer Jain reported on the proposed improve- <br />ments in this area. Proceedings for this area were started some two or three years <br />ago, however, City Engineer Jain requested that the Council advise what action should <br />be taken at this time, whether complete nervy plans should be prepared or whether the <br />original plans for which approximately $2600 had been expended should be abandoned. <br />Councilman Granger and Holmquist stated that several persons in this vicinity were <br />definitely interested in improvements and suggested that they be contacted in an <br />effort to establish limits of an assessment district. Councilman Holmquist moved, <br />seconded by Councilman Spillers that the matter be referred back to the interested <br />parties and a report made at the next regular meeting.. Councilmen Granger and <br />Holmquist agreed to contact several of the residents in the area and report back at <br />a later meeting. Motion carried. <br />CITIZEN COMMITTEE ON TRANSFER OF FUNDS, $150,000 bond issue for sewage treatment plant <br />was complimented by the Council. A copy of the report was sent to each Councilman. <br />Councilman Holmquist moved that the report be accepted, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan. Mr. W. J. Mc Keegan asked if the Council had the right to cancel bonds voted <br />in 1944. City Attorney Currie stated that because of the time element this method <br />was used to save a loss of 60 or 90 days and that action was legal. Motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER MOVED THAT CITY ENGINEER JAIN BE INSTRUCTED TO PROCEED on agreement <br />with the Division of State Highway according to his previous recommendation for <br />underground conduits, El Camino Real Signals between Whipple Avenue and Woodside <br />Road, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />RECREATION COMMISSION'S 0014MITTEE AND REPRESENTATIVE OF ENGINEER'S OFFICE, recommendation <br />for Stafford Park: <br />Swing set (six swings) $193.00 <br />Baby Swing Set (four swings) 139.75 <br />One - 12 foot slide 122.00 <br />One - 5-1/2 foot slide 42.50 <br />0497.25 <br />It would be necessary to transfer funds from the Unbudgeted Reserve for this purpose. <br />Councilman Granger moved approval of recommendation of City Manager Rolison, seconded <br />by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF DEEDS, STREET WIDENING, SOUTH KENSINGTON SQUARE. Councilman Morgan moved <br />acceptance of following deeds, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />
