WERDER <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT WAS CONSIDERING ENLARGEMENT OF ITS TELETYPE SYSTEM'TO INCLUDE <br />Installations in the City Police Departments throughout the County to aid Nin detec- <br />tion of crime, apprehension of criminals and prosecution of criminal cases. Service <br />would be provided by the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company, if 9 to 11 incor- <br />porated cities within the County decide to participate. The estimated expense would <br />be $50 per month, terms of agreement had been referred to the City Attorney for <br />examination, the City could cancel service any time upon 90 days notice. No addition- <br />al funds would be needed for this fiscal year, but $600 would have to be set up in <br />the Police Department Supplies and Services for 1949-50. Police Chief Collins rec- <br />ommended that this be installed. Councilman Holmquist moved that the''City enter <br />into contract with the County, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. Council- <br />man Spillers offered resolution and moved adoption authorizing City Manager Rolison <br />to sign such an agreement, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried on roll call. <br />RESOLUTION No. 692. <br />AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO SIGN TELETYPE SERVICE CONTRACT WITH SAN MATEO <br />COUNTY <br />WHEREAS the City of Redwood City is desirous of participating in a teletype- <br />writer service which the County of San Mateo is planning to establish for'the pur- <br />pose of facilitating the detection of crime and the apprehension of criminals; and <br />WHEREAS the County of San Mateo has submitted a form of contract to be entered <br />Into by and between the City of Redwood City and the County of San Mateo, whereby <br />the City of Redwood City will agree to pay its pro -rata share of the expense of <br />such teletypewriter service; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he <br />hereby is authorized to enter into the contract which has been submitted by the <br />County of San Mateo regarding participation in such teletypewriter service. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof held on the 4th day of April, 19+9. <br />PEDWOOD CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAD ACQUIRED BLOCK 5, of Stambaugh Street Addi- <br />tion, except for lots 7 and 22, and had acquired Lots 3A, 3B9 30, and 3D, of Block <br />17, Eastern Addition, shown in attached sketch. To get the most benefit from this <br />acquired land they requested that portions of WILLOW and HILTON Streets as shown in <br />the dketch be abandoned. This was referred to the Planning Commission for their <br />opinion, on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and <br />carried. <br />
