n <br />DRAINAGE OONDITTONS BLO14'-UTST PAOPERTY, City Engineer Jain reported that the Real Estate Committee, <br />and Mr. Blomquist- <br />City Manager,City Attorney, Jack Frost and he, himself. met with Mr.Blo{dquist /promised to°take <br />care of this condition and install considerable pumping equipment before the rainy season and <br />have channel dug so that water would not be thrown over on Steinberger Street. Pumps should be <br />installed. A motion was made by Councilman Holmquist and amendment proposed by CouncilmaaMorgpn <br />a <br />and accepted that a letter be written by the City Attorney requesting Mr.Blomquist to take care <br />rr r <br />of drainage conditions so that they would not damage City property, seconded by Councilman Morgan. <br />City, Attorney stated that Mr.Blomquist was liable if he did not comply with such confirmation and <br />I F <br />2®3, <br />would necessarily. have to respond in damages tb the City if not satisfactory. Jain <br />City Engineer <br />Rediaod City,California <br />Dear Glenn: <br />In accordance with our conversation of a few days ago, concerning the improvement of <br />Broadway No. 3 and contiguous areaq, we submit the following: <br />We will prepare plans and specifications for this project for 5% five percent of the re -arr <br />contract cost of said project; less the amount already paid us, provided howdver, there are <br />no substantial deletions from the original plan. <br />rOur fee will become payable at the time of the letting of the contract. Councilman Morgan reported that he had checked <br />with the Fire Chief Lodi and Inspector Drivon in regard to fire protection in the City an&,they were <br />doing a good job. Many had received communications in regard to corrections, quite a few had comylied <br />and ,others had had 6 to 8 months notice to comply and he suggested to the Council that somethingrbe <br />done within 60 days as the State Law provided for this protection to citizens. Councilman Britschgi <br />i <br />moved this be placed on the agenda for further rgport from Fire Chief in 60 days, seconded by Coun- <br />-cilman Spillers and carried. <br />REPORT OF TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE AFTER STUDY OF INSTALLING ARTERIAL STOP SIGNS ALONG WHIPPLE, <br />HOPKINS AND BREWSTER AVENUES. Committee recommended against installation of wterial stop signs <br />at streets intersectingrwith Whipple, Hopkins and Brewster Avenues as arterials tended to increase <br />speed and arterial streets should avoid schools, and other places where pedestrians make frequent% <br />use of the street. Arterials in residentlil areas should be at least five blocks apart unless used <br />as one-wqy streets . The Committee recommended "Slow-Cross'Traffieft sign be installed on Hudson <br />Street at the intersection with Hopkins Avenue, and that a "Slow -Cross Traffic" sign should be con- <br />sidered on Brewster - Hillview ;intersection. Councilman Britsehgi moved acceptance or recommendation, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift and carried.' <br />HARBOR BOULEVARD SPEED LIMIT ESTABLISHED AT 35 MILES PER HOUR. CouncilmanSwift moved that affidavit of <br />
