<br />RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATIONIVIRGINIA AVENUE
<br />RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Redwood City, that it does hereby preliminarj:ly
<br />determine that the public convenience and necessity require, and that it intends to order, the
<br />following work to be done and improvements to be made in and for said City.Ao wit:.
<br />(a) The improvement of Virginia Avenue from its intersection with Roosevelt Avenue to
<br />its intersection with OakAvenue' by constructing and installing therein conrete curb and
<br />gutter, 5" standard concrete driveway approaches to serve those residences where driveways
<br />no* exist, 4" concrete sidewalks 51 wide, 2" asphaltic concrete paving on 6" crusher—run rock
<br />base, 311 wide.
<br />(b) The construction -and installation of an 18" reinforced concrete pipe siphon with
<br />a catch basin at either end thereof, across Virginia Avenue at its intersection with Roosevelt
<br />Avenue.
<br />(c) The removal of an existing catch basin at the southwest corner of the intersection
<br />of Virginia Avenue with Oak Avenue and the installation of a new catch basin at the aforemen—
<br />tioned'intexeection, and the construction and installation of an 18" reinforced concrete
<br />pipe storm sewer lateral from said catch basin to the center line of Oak Avenue.,
<br />(d) The construction and installation .of all necessary appurtenances to the work to•be <
<br />done under items (a) through (c) inclusive.
<br />All of said work and improvements are to constructed at the places and in the manner, and
<br />to the lines, grades and elevations, as shown upon the plans, profiles and specifications made
<br />therefor and on file in the office of the City Engineer of Redwood City.
<br />Said contemplated work and improvement, in the opinion of said City Council, is of more
<br />than lo$al or ordinary public benefit, and said Council does hereby make the cost and expenses
<br />of doing such work and improvement chargeable upon a District, which District said CityCouneil
<br />declares to be theDistriet benefited by said work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the
<br />entire cost and'expenses thereoft' and which said Assessment District is wholly within the limits
<br />of said City of Redwood City, State of California, and is described as follows;.
<br />Said area to include Lot 3.1 Block 1 of HOOFER and CUNNINGHAM SUBDIVISION, San Mateo County,
<br />California, recorded April 10, 1907 in Vol. "E" Maps at page 58, and copied into Book 4 Maps at
<br />Page 62, San Mateo County records; and a portion of WEST -REDWOOD ADDITION N0. 10 San Mateo County,
<br />California, recorded November 7, 1908 in Vol. 6 at page 47, San Mateo County records, the bearings
<br />of which are thelasis of'this description, and which area is`more particularly described•as follows:
<br />Beginning at the intersection of the Southeastern line of Roosevelt Avenue, 60.00 feet in
<br />width, with the Northeastern line ofLot 3, Block 2 of said West Redwood Addition No. 1; thence
<br />S 450 301 E.'104.00 feet; thence S' 440 30'.W,-20.,00 feet; thence S 450 301 E, 675.50 feet to the
<br />center line of OakAvenue, 50 feet in width;` thence S 440 301 W along said center line of Oak
<br />Avenue, 290.00 feet; thence N 450 301 W, 675.50 feet; thence S, 44.0 301 W-, 25.00 feet; thence
<br />N•45° 30' W, 134 feet to the center line of said Roosevelt Avenue; thence N'44o 301 E along
<br />said center line°of Roosevelt Avenue, 335.00 feet; thence S 450 301 E, 30.00„feet to the%
<br />point of beginning.
<br />There is excepted from said District all Etreets and other public property in use in the
<br />performance of a public function.
<br />Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent the unpaid assessments of $25.00
<br />or over, bearing interest at the rate of six.ppr cent (6%) per annum willhe issued pursuant to
<br />Article.I of Ordinance No. 333 of said City, entitled "Redwood City Improvement Procedure
<br />Ordinance" adopted March 14, 19320 as amended, the last installment.of which bonds shall
<br />mature fourteen (14) years from the 2nd day of January next succeeding the 15th day of the
<br />next November folloQing their date.
<br />Notice is hereby given that Monday, the 18th day of July,, 1949, at the hour of eight o'clock
<br />P.M., at the Council Chamber in the City Hall of said City, is hereby fixed as the time and place
<br />when and where any and all persons interested may aper and show cause., if any they have, why
<br />the CityCouncil should -not find and determine that the public convenience qnd necessity requires
<br />the improvements described and referred to in this resolution, without further compliance with
<br />the Special Assessment, Investigation, Limitation, and Majority Protest Act.of 1931 of the State
<br />of California now embodied in the Streets and Highways Code 6f Califoinia'as Division 4 thereof;
